When did the asterisk get added?  I saw it for the first time, a few days ago.  I've never seen it before that.
I saw it for the first time a few months ago. It basically covers not just transgender/transsexual people, but genderqueer, transvestite, bigender, etc. people too.
(On that note, in case you were wondering what the difference between transgender and transsexual is; transsexual is usually reserved for those who've undergone either top (ftm) or bottom (mtf) surgery. Transgender is mainly used for people who are pre-op, but AFAIK they can be used interchangably.
Couldn't we just refer to these groups as non-hetero? Or abnormals, which is technically true if you look at the meaning of that word...

Well, I think those groups take offense at that word. At least some of them insist that they are "normal," regardless of the actual meaning of the word.

Even more so with "abnormal."

Yeah abnormal isn't exactly a word people want to be described as, also trans people can be heterosexual so non-hetero really doesn't fit.

Not really. Abnormal generally requires either a contextualizer or a sufficient overall amount of deviance from the "norm" - a norm which also requires a contextualizer - that may not be present here.

Most of them are probably more normal than me, and I'm none of those things, so it's an incredibly inaccurate term here.

I do still wonder if heterosexuals are a majority on Bay 12 or not. We've never really done a census, and my anecdotal evidence suggests that it is in question, at least for the Lower Forum.

Any support for a Bay 12 Lower Forum Census?

Heh.

I prefer to consider myself Bi curious more than bisexual for sure, however I haven't had the idea to do something to make that little flag show that.

Maybe like any other time I mention stuff like that I get art hand-outs :P

On a slightly more rager note:

I'm beginning to wonder if I actually do have a form of ADD  ???

I would argue that you wouldn't get an accurate representation. Non-heterosexuals might find it more interesting and 'relevant' to them and so be more likely to answer, skewing the results.
Still, heterosexuals being the greatest majority of the human race by far, I would find it hard to imagine that you'd get a different result.

On-topic: I am currently feeling sick as a result of a flu shot. This is a rather bad time to be sick, as I am missing both pizza and an appointment to change next semester's classes.

In my experience there is a majority who /claim/ heterosexuality, but it is helpful to explain exactly what that word means. Is it just attraction? Because there are a good chunk of people who are quite willing to have sex with people they are not particularly attracted to, depending on the circumstance. Is it preference? If its just preference, fine, but in either situation you have the thing where you can  have a good deal of sex with people of the same gender and still consider yourself completely heterosexual, which might be a bit odd.

Or is  it willingness? Because if its just willingness, I am not so sure how much of that majority is situational...

And all of them means its perfectly possible for sexuality to vary over the course of a persons life.

Being bisexual, I wouldn't know how homo/heterosexuality works. AFAIK it's less of an attraction to one gender and more of an un-attraction to the other.

That's... actually probably the best way I can describe my experience with it. I'd say my sexuality is less defined by my willingness to have sex with women, and moreso by my unwillingness to have sex with men. That may not be the general experience, though.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

For me, it's not a dislike. It's apathy. Nothing there. When people describe attraction to men they are talking about things that I just do not relate to in any way.
