The argument Hans is that guns are enablers. They enable wackos and psychopaths to do far more damage than they could otherwise.

Do both. Making bombs in urban demilitarized environments is a lot more noticeable than purchasing a gun in a gun culture.

There are paths that are neither 'ban guns' nor 'do nothing'. We could better enforce gun registration, restrict access to freaking automatic weapons in urban areas, all sorts of things.

I believe shotguns should be mandatory for everyone, at all times. Sounds crazy, right?
Consider this though:

Sometimes I feel like I should start killing all the people to show people how much worse they could have it. Unfortunately, I've got that 'conscience' and 'sense of right and wrong' bullshit going on, so that's not going to happen.

Re-cap of the day: It started when my father marched in and demanded $30 to buy presents for people who we haven't even seen for several months. 30 bux just so happens to be the sum total of all the cash I managed to scrape together this year. Good-bye, emergency money.

I was then assigned to make candies for the family get-together tomorrow. My cooking skills are practically non-existent (I once set a toaster oven on fire), and it's something I never made before. Mom promised to help me through it, before taking off to do some last-minute shopping after some basic instructions. Candies turned out badly and had to be tossed.

The final straw came just a little while ago. While getting ready for a shower, I heard Dad yelling at the family dog for sniffing around the full garbage can in the kitchen. Most people would empty the can, or at least hide it under the sink so the dog couldn't get to it (considering the storm outside, I wouldn't blame them for this). Not my dad! Came out of the shower to find a mess on the floor, which I had to pick up before starting on the disaster of a kitchen.

Toasters catch fire surprisingly easy if you don't clean them very often. I've also heard that old toasters can spontaneously turn themselves on in the middle of the night (their springs fail) which places them as the number one most terrifying kitchen appliance. Not that there was much competition.
