That would certainly indicate a much more interesting campus nightlife than what we actually have, I'll give you that.

I'll admit, I began reading it as... "The guy who has been trying to bang unsuccessfully for hours and keeps getting spanked for his failure."

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I'm so ninja, ninja's are like, "Did you see Hanslanda?"
And I rise up behind them and whisper, "Yes." Right before I stab them.

Honestly, I can't answer that without violating forum guidelines.

Suffice to say it is both possible and not particularly complicated.

Can we vote to ban overwrite (insert) mode from office, Eclipse, nuclear launch verification v6.0 for Android, etc. everything ever? Someone, somewhere out there must be laughing his sociopathic makeup-smeared ass off while writing emails to software developers begging to keep it in. How could it ever be anything more than an incredibly rare convenience to someone to be able to replace words in a sentence with another with the exact same number of letters? Or is this a significant enough time-saver for, say, data entry for numbers with the same amount of digits (the only conceivable purpose I can think of that it now has) that it needs to be right next to home, page-up, delete, and enter on my keyboard?

And yes I realize that Eclipse and other non-Word applications are probably just using editor panes from some other software that include it as a default feature, but RRAAAAAGGGGEEEE

Fatfinger'd something important again, hohoho? If whoever's idea that was is still alive, I can only imagine your rage fuels their continued existence ♥

Seriously though, I've used it occasionally. Very, very rarely. It's usually faster to just highlight (shift-home) the word and retype it than position the cursor appropriately, type through, remember to hit insert again, etc., so forth, so on. Might be more useful for slower typers, I guess?

Maybe it's got some kind of use for stuff that uses the numpad a lot, I'unno.

You can make a more convincing argument for making it type over your text backwards, since you still have to delete (or whitespace, which is what I think people that are using this seriously are more likely to be doing, the bastards) the leftover tattered and sad remains of your paragraph at the end, after thinking about a word short enough, and then remembering to turn it off. At least that could be used for a source of entertainment, like typing words backwards. No, the only legitimate use for the overwrite function is to turn it off after accidentally turning it on.
