Just as a reminder, the Elder Scrolls dwarves (dwemer) have died out (except for that one, I believe) though I suppose the lore doesn't matter as much as fun =p

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
What the fuck are you talking about? I don't remember anything about that in either Morrowind or Oblivion.
Expansions? Although, if that did happen, Heart of the Dead wouldn't make any sense.
Spoiler: And in any case (click to show/hide)

Morrowind's expansions? What and where, exactly? I don't remember anything like that in bloodmoon, and tribunal (which I didn't get around to playing...) came before that, didn't it? So nothing that I know of in either of them...

Now, I'm not doubting this, I'm just curious where it's from.

It's from the novel.

Did you play Morrowind... maybe?

Oh, now that you mention it I thought he was referring to the 'only one dwarf left' thing, not the nuke.

Take any excuse to play Morrowind again. ANY EXCUSE. Even if the excuse is to your demerit.

I'm having a hard time thinking of what could be done to make Oblivion more fun without mods. Try stacking stuff until physics break, maybe?
Equipmentless oblivion gate speed runs are always fun. Well, fun the first dozen or so times you run through hell naked and unarmed to grab the sigil stone and leap off the ledge, after that it just becomes routine... ;D

There was no nuke and Dwemer were ELVES!

Stop bringing non-canon in the TES world.

Heh, I may try that, though my unarmed skill seems strangely effective. I once punched out a beggar with one power hit.

The Human-sized dwemer were referred to as "dwarves" by their giant neighbors, I believe the explanation is.

The scary thing is it's easier than fighting through all the daedra...

Well, successfully installed the massive mod pack and it's all working shockingly. The performance is pretty low but I haven't tweaked it much.

Elder Scrolls... Novel?  :o

Do explain, please.
http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017

Basically what happens, if I recall correctly, is after Vivec dies, his power is no longer holding the ministry of truth over Vivec City, it comes down and blows up vvardenfell, turning whats left of it and Morrowind into a post-apoc wasteland.

Er... wasn't Vvardenfell, and most of Morrowind for that matter, already a post-apocalyptic wasteland?

But you know, the Ministy of Truth wasn't that big, and it wasn't that high in the sky, so it falling down wouldn't cause a lot of damage. Vivec City might be pretty much screwed, except maybe Ebonheart and the Foreign Quarter, which would be pretty ironic given the attitude of Vivec's other residents, but I doubt anywhere else would be affected.

The thing is, it fell at the same speed it was falling before it was stopped, so it was as if it wasn't stopped in the first place.

Plus,
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

If that's not enough to cause trouble, there's also
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

On topic, should you get the PC version, there's this quest mod which seems to have a cross between generic fantasy dwarves and the in-lore Dwemer. There's this resource which lets you significantly change a character's appearance with some technical effort. There's at least one LotR mod in the works that should hopefully have Tolkein style dwarves in it. There are also a couple crafting mods out there so you could try roleplaying a smith, if that's your interest.

Without mods, you're pretty much out of luck, though nothing stops you from favoring axes, drinking every ounce of alcohol you get your hands on, and spiraling into a profanity-laced rage every time you stub your toe or spot an elf. Actually, that kind of describes certain Nords.
