Making Oblivion Dwarfly
« on: May 26, 2010, 02:21:10 pm »

Just what it says on the tin. How can I make my game of Oblivion more dwarfy? And no mods, because I'm using the Xbox version.

Personally, my character is Madgod/Listener/Fighters Guildmaster, and is rescuing Martin as we speak. Fighting some mean daedra right now, thanks to the leveling system. There are about 20,000 Fire atronachs blasting me to peices with flares by the Sh*tload.

So, Ideas?

What he said  ;)

You could always make a short character that only uses axes... wait, are there any axes in Oblivion? Its been too long since I played it.

Assuming there are, you should also go for that and heavy armor. And no magic skills. In fact, kill every magic user you ever encounter.

AND KILL EVERY ELF IN THE WORLD! EVERY ONE!

EDIT: And make SURE you character has a beard!

And steal every bottle of alcohol you can find, and drink it on the spot!

Just as a reminder, the Elder Scrolls dwarves (dwemer) have died out (except for that one, I believe) though I suppose the lore doesn't matter as much as fun =p

My only suggestion is get the PC version I guess. It's been such a long time since I played that I can't really remember much of it, so sorry.

You could yell dwarfy things as you run around killing with a 2 handed battleaxe or something...

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Elder Scrolls games are basically just blank maps waiting to be modded anyways.

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

I hate Daedra.

Unrelated to Dwarves but god damn this mod bundle I'm grabbing (which seems to have lots of support put into it for setup, wyrebashing, etc in the docs) is actually larger in download size than the game itself. http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AYTrAQ8yzT__ZHpwNHc0ZF84ZDgzOHR2Zm0&hl=en

Actually, Elder Scrolls "dwarves" are an extinct species of elf.  They weren't particularly short either.

There is no facial hair in Oblivion and you can't change your height either, so you can pretty much forget about it without mods unless you're one of those who can content themselves with murdering an imperial solider and stealing his clothes then "Role-playing" him by walking around wearing them and randomly attacking people upi [retend are criminals.  Oblivion is really a pretty crappy game in general for anything besides that.

There were shading options in character creation that give you a 5:00 shadow. But certainly nothing like a fine dwarven beard.

What the fuck are you talking about? I don't remember anything about that in either Morrowind or Oblivion.
