« on: May 26, 2010, 10:25:00 am »

Welcome to the Wars of the Crusading Lord.

The game is based on the game "war of the celestial lords"

Strategy : Move your armies across the map to conquer territories and bring glory to your name and to the King.
Intrigue : Conspire against other players to remove them from power and take their cities.
Diplomacy : Ally and betray your fellow generals.
Roleplay : Play as a general, meet fellow generals and their emissaries or go on the field and fight them.

Before you decide if you want to join or not, a bit of a warning : this game requires dedication, if you cannot sacrifice an hour every day to play this game, it is better that you abstain from joining.

Name:Reginald
special abilities:Connections, engineer, bishop, royalty
Tactics:3
Combat:1
Leadership:4
Speed:2
Nobility:0
Piety:0
Represented by: R
Reginald is not physically imposing, nor is he the most pleasant of people to be around. He is constantly schemeing, though. He sees everything in terms of numbers, and is quite good as manipulating these numbers: five hundren men, each with families, hopes and dreams, can have their morale, abilities and loyalty simplified and expressed in nice mathematical terms. He avoids physical combat - why should he risk life and limb when there are so many others to do it for him? Instead he manipulates others into doing what he wants, be it by bribery, blackmail, or influence.

Working on it...

Name: Adriaen Cromwell

Tactics : 3
Combat : 1
Leadership : 1
Speed : 3
Nobility : 3
Piety : 3

Being one of the youngest generals to lead a crusader army, Adriaen is seen by most others as inexperienced, or even a rookie. And it is true that Adriaen is inexperienced in terms of leading an army into battle. However, his father was a great teacher, and Adriaen proved to have a hidden talent in the understanding and use of maps - whether they show the quickest route an army can take, or the movement of legions on a battlefield. And while most of the nobility and the vatican still talk about him as "Olivers' youngest", they start to see the potential of the boy.

ed boy : 6+4+2+2 is 14

connections costs 1 point

you will have to lower one of your stats by 1, or abandon the special ability

I might add, having a 0 in a stat will result in penalties, rather than bonuses during combat

Wait, can you have more than one special ability (provided you give up the points)?

edited the original post.

A few questions:
I saw no mention of currency being used. is there?
I saw no mention of recruiting/raising armies.
Would a "conversion" ability be possilbe? by expending resources, one might try to manipulate some units into defecting to your side.

you are all considered rich enough that money makes not much of a difference
there is no currency

you raise an army simply by stating "a unit is trained in (city)" you may only raise one unit per turn per city, and not more than the combined levels of your city

so when you have a lvl2 and a lvl3 city, you can have a total of 5 units

Name: Gawaren of Drakenpeak

Tactics: 4

Combat: 1

Leadership: 4

Speed: 3

Nobility: 1

Piety: 1

Represented by: W

Background: Unlike most other Lords Gawaren doesn`t give a damn about royal lineage- He has seen many wars and took part in many battles and he saw that noble blood doesn`t look any different than the blood of a common peasant. Neither is he religious- He saw people of all confessions praying to their gods; Asking for mercy, but it never came. He regards blood and religion only as political tools.
Needless to say, he isn`t much loved by the church or the king. (At the moment, at least.)

But even the King or the Church can`t deny that he`s an able commander. He has the gift to inspire his troops and on the battlefield he relies on speed and on superior tactics to win the battle, often staying back and moving his troops like chess pieces.

reginald:

it is fine to put 0 in stats, but you might want to reconsider the current set up.
especialy in regards to speed. if you look at the map of the "war of the celestial lords" you can see how big the map is.

with 0 in speed, you can only move one tile per turn.

you will literaly be left behind

it is not my job to keep people from making mistakes that costs them victory, but it is my job to make sure people don't entirely screw up their innitial stats and thus quit of boredom because it takes them 2 weeks until they ever manage to reach the enemy.

seriously, with those stats, you are going to lose interest fast.

they are, as everyone could see, quite unbalanced.
fun destroying unbalanced

that's what most of the rewards do

like some sort of sacred sword, that increases your combat and leadership, a fast horse from a good breed that increases your speed, or simply a letter of education that allows you to visit an academy to train a stat

among other things, not stat related
