Bargaining with the traders didn't provide me with too much...But I do have some good news.
The pump stack is finally complete.
Now all I need to do is cut down enough trees and build enough windmills to power my plumbing system.

Also, the microline tower is getting a level or two added to it. Which is good, I think.
But, why am I continuing construction on the tower? To do something in the lapse of non-microline stones. Which only lasted long enough for me to write that sentence up there.

In other news, I expanded the city northward. Nothing much to see.
Although, I am building a homeless shelter now. No booze allowed.

Since it's nearing the end of the year, I will make an end-of-the-year post when it finally does come. This is just to prove that I didn't abandon this project. (And also to calm down my fingers)

EDIT:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
How do I do the "export Map Layers" part? *Facepalm* I should run the program first, next time...

Since you mention forts, you want to be one of the people who live in the fort? (Workers)
Or do you want to be one of the people who live in the city? (Residents)

After you choose one of those two fates, I will grant your request.

EDIT: If you don't respond by the time I start playing again, I will give you a random one.
If you are not satisfied, I can change your dwarf.

Man, I can typo like it's nobody's business!  I was meaning outside structures, so Resident sounds great to me!  Thanks! :)

*High-fives fellow typo-er*

You have a...uh...Well, quite a multitasker. *Opens DF* He is a brave warrior that fights the trees. He forges armor. He helps to build up this city with rocks. He engraves portraits. He also has a bit of architect in him.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Remember, the trees be a crafty bunch. That's why I always am ordering you fellows to attack them.
We've slain hundreds thanks to you! All hail the woodcutters!

Now, I shall go back to playing DF. I wish to finish year one sometime soon.

Woah, have any of you seen something like this before?  ???
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
This is sooo going to be where the thief's guild is going to make their headquarters. Or, at least, just a general evil guild. Something to add some fun to the city...come on...

If any of you want, you can claim a dwarf from that guild once I actually have enough dwarfs to spare. (Migrants should be coming soon, I hope.)

That's nothing. I had an unbroken chain of iron ores and coal stretching across the entirety of a 6x6 embark.

Spring has arrived.

This means that I upload the city in it's current state to the dfma. Oh, but guess what, the compressor keeps segmentation faulting.
I'll have to come up with something else.

Year 1 has been a hard year, here in Tiristthad.
The city is nowhere near done, the two towers still are under scaffoldation, and there are trees still left to chop.

This city has already created over 9000 wealth. Most of which is in architecture.

The pumps are all built. (If I remember correctly)
Quite a bit of a tussle in providing them with power is going on.

I still have plenty of room for people to claim dorfs.
So...
I may upload the save onto dffd if I get unlazy. And the map compressor continues failing.

Kind of a disappointing post for the end of year one...I really want the compressor to just work.

EDIT: I got it to upload on the map archive! View it here.

Migrants. Population: 40.
And right when I said that, a baby was born.

I also finished building the huge gear chain that pumps EVERY pump required for plumbing to work.
Mello withdrew from society. Needs shells.

I love chopping down trees. That's why we have our first royal wood cutter.

Hey, look, the city is getting expanded again. Must be all that new rock.

------------------------------------------

Hehe, I wasn't referring to that.

Some good news guys, the map compressor stopped segfaulting. Now to upload.
Click here for the city on dfma.
It is very outdated though, since I have done a lot of improvement this spring. Which is not even finished yet.

Define 'irony.' There are so many ways it's used that I can't tell what you might be referring to.

He's a chef, and he's been complaining of hunger lately :P

The elves didn't come yet, I fear we won't be getting shells for mellow. I wonder if dfcompanion work with .04 AND on linux...
