Dump 300 barrel loads of pure alcohol into the ocean.
Set it on fire.
That will show those mermaids who's the boss.

Because capturing, breeding them and butchering them for their bones doesn't show them who is boss already?

Setting things on fire, preferably under magma (but exploding booze will do in a pinch) is how a dwarf marks its territory.

Also,on my previous point, admit it - making a fortress in a burned out ocean would be awesome.

Booze waterfall anyone?

That's the most important part of my distillery... No other fortress mixes their booze by waterfall.

Sorry, watched "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" a few days ago, and that is what jumped to mind.

More importantly, could a true dwarf drown in 7/7 dwarven wine...?

Assuming we're happy with something unrealistic like the present cave-in system as a quick fix, the issue of multiple fluids can be resolved with the quick but unrealistic fix of "no mixing ever - they just float on top of each other like oil and water". There would probably need to be something extra coded to handle cases of say, 2/7 water + 1/7 blood + 1/7 booze tiles all sloshing around but in principle this would then allow for a multi-fluid system.

Well as toady put it, squares are JUST big enough to fit one dwarf in, but they can also fit 1000 dragons as long as 999 of them are lying down, so I expect 7/7 water and 7/7 vomit could probably be on the same square...

I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

Hmm that's interesting, so the fluids would completely ignore each other and flow around as if the others weren't even there? I wonder how that would be displayed...

Also of note is that there are many many many types of blood and booze. Does it all get degenerated into a single "blood fluid" and "booze fluid"?
