Growing a beard saves you money in shaving blades. And time, too.

I do think I look more appealing with a beard, as well

The drawback is that you might end up looking like an insurgent.

I used to be able to do this with my beard. It was able to support forks.

I have a moustache with a similar effect. Unfortunately, I have been cursed with shoddy hair follicles on my chin, so I can't grow a real beard. Ah well.

I've been able to grow a full-faced (and neck) beard since senior year of high school.  Takes me about a month, although 2-3 weeks is enough to qualify as a beard.  It also comes with nice twinges of red within all the brown.  These days I keep it down to a gigantic goatee and sideburns for employability.
