I think we should try to get maps of the region first, and learn which places are evil/good/safe/dangerous, etc, before making a decision. We're looking for the cushiest site available here.

i was the one who tryied to save the kobold, but those creatures are stupid. they probably don't mate for life and don't form families, and if they do, a kobold with a family doesnt leave the cave to go steal stuff from dwarves, that's a job for the adventurous young bachelors.

Yeah lets hold onto knowledge for now, maybe use it later as a bigger bargaining chip.

For now, we just need to find a good place for an initial site, even if it doesn't end up being our final encampment to set up a village/fort. From there we can send out scavenger/exploration parties ala Fallout 3.
