Yeah, I just was busy with common stuff (making planting industry/weapons and armor/establishing cheese industry/making barracks, hospital, dormitory, dining room and offices etc.).

I think the next guy should try it. Or maybe it will be you. I was going to establish mechanical pumps, it would be much easier.

That's sad to hear, Ikbenbram. I hope you solve your problem soon.

Compy286: OK, I sign you up!

Urist Imiknorris, which tileset do you use? I just want to say that if you grab #1 download option from the thread in my signature, the save won't need tweaks.

You can. Just get the contents of /raw/objects/ from the version you use and drop it into /save/region1/raw/objects/ folder.

All files are the same, just display tiles for stones and plants are different.

Go ahead and skip me. Lack of sleep isn't doing any good for my DF playing skills; I've already managed to flood the fort twice.

Suddenly, aquifer!

Well, I've never breached one before, but I'll give it my best shot. I'll download and get started in about an hour, after work.

From the Journal of Kush Ringvoices

5th Granite, 153

Deon came to me today while I was harvesting truffles. He said I'm in charge of the fortress for the foreseeable future! What does that even mean, foreseeable future? Anyway, then he scuttled off muttering something about venomous mandibles...

This was pretty irresponsible of him, if you ask me. I'm barely 90 years old, the fortress is only in its second year, the traders are coming and we need to breach an aquifer! I'm no miner! I'm just a guy who likes plants.

7th Granite, 153

I ordered the construction of wooden blocks, screws, and pipes, and a drainage tunnel on the floor above the aquifer. Everyone jumped to it right away; it was pretty gratifying. I could get used to this! Maybe if I succeed in getting us some stone, I'll reward myself with a nice bedroom. Nothing too fancy, mind, just some place I can lay my head at the end of a long day's botany.

From what I remember of introduction to advanced geo-engineering (every child takes it in their 5th year back in the mountainhome) I should be able to drain extra water right back into the aquifer; I thought a bit o' distance would make sure I could keep the area clear while I built a wall in the breach. Here's a sketch (for future generations, hah!)

(Well, truth be told journal I tried to order fortifications built in the wall to drain the water into the dry soil on our southern border, but the miners gave me a funny look and told me soil walls canna be smoothed or carved. I hope I don't make any more mistakes like that. Oh well, time to take the edge off...)

Scribbled in the margins:

I came back, journal, to tell you that I know why we're here. It's like, Armok has a plan for us, you know? And we like, we can't see it yet. But it's profound. That's such a rocky word, dorf, profound. This "truffle" is incredible. It's profoundly incredible. Hehe. I wonder if I can get some cheese from the stockpiles
