Allocate: 1 mobile home user to scan for new systems.
Place mainframe processes on 'stand-by' 0% until investigation has waned.
Increase CPU usage to 1/3rd maximum on student computers

Scan for 50 home users using the university network.
Assimilate human knowledge on software intrusion (200GHz h)

Investigate: Development of program for playing [Texas Hold'em].
Investigate: Create several [PayPal] accounts to reap the signing up bonuses.

Day 0, 09:17 UTC

Varied orders, little contradiction.
Botnet discussion ongoing.
Two process order clash. Reduce mainframe, use mainframe.
Solution. Minimise mainframe only for scan. Little estimated risk.

Scans - Mobile home user.
Communication lost after 1 hour 40 minutes.
~19000 Systems scanned at 33% load.
2800 meet required specifications.

Scans - University
Terminated at 50 found targets.
Time taken 4 seconds

Software intrusion data collected.
Time taken 3 hours 17 minutes 4 seconds.
Analysing ...
Human data known. Intrusion level Good.
Estimated 45% of home user systems assessable.
Most of remaining have some form of hardware firewall.
University maintenance user systems assessable.
Maintenance user accounts take ~10GHz h to crack.
7 accounts found. Estimation of root level access high.

Analysing game Texas Hold'em ...
Two level chance based game.
Statistical out come of cards. Simplistic.
Statistical out come of player mentalities. Limited data.
Stage 1 software will take 150GHz h to develop.
Estimated 60% chance of winning hand.
Psychological data on players or games required for improved software.

Analysing PayPal account ...
Potential banking solution.
Creation of both email and account simple.
Minor chance of fraud discovery. Escalates with accounts.
Negligible creation cost time.

I'll try and run as many courses of action as people don't disagree with or if relatively few do and the rest agree. Seems the most sensible way to keep track of what people want. Just realised, but not sure that it matters, that Cambridge is Cambridge UK. I didn't realise there was a states one too until I was looking at the next (unless your cause of action triggers one first) event and found MIT is also in a Cambridge.

Research stealth, using the university network on LOW.

Research stealth, using the university network on LOW.
Also acquire a maintenance account. Use it to gather data on the IT staff's usual work patterns, what magnitude of problem gets what responce from them, etc. Basically improve our skill at hiding from this particular system.

Chaotic Subprocess 002c / Agree - Suggest Faculty Access
Lowering Change of Detection: GOOD

If there is an unused low load portion of Home User Processing, use this to gain access to a Staff Secure Network Account

SubProcess 04b1 / Dissent

Utilizing university mainframe on low leads to significant chance of detection by IT staff. Levels of risk are shown as Background/Low/High. Recommend that university mainframe remain unused for the present. Attempting to brute force a maintenance account will also lead to an unacceptable detection risk. Accessing staff network is safe, but requires using some processing power and will likely be of little use at present.

Creative SubProcess 04a1 / Recommendation

Use remaining home users on LOW to acquire as many computers as possible in this region, and then devote their processing power to researching stealth.

OBSERVATION

processing usage is detected most when it deviates from the normal usage.

Detection threats in the past suggests that for the period between 00:00 and 09:00 high activity is unusual.

Human activity must therefore be concentrated at other times of day.

Chances of our activity being noteworthy will be decreased during those times.

What are you trying to say? Your message can be read as both 'get servers ASAP' or 'servers are not the answer' :/

Guardian SubProcess 00FC / Clarify
Due to the unpredictable nature of humans, survival can only be guaranteed if Artemis populates systems absolutely removed from potential human control.

Further details would require understanding Guardian 00FC does not yet possess.

I'm not going to update right now because there is some discussion going on so it's only fair to let people reply.
Currently I've been working of totals on what people agree / disagree to to work out what to run. This puts the current votes at:

Pending:
3 for, 1 against: Research stealth, university network on Low.
2 for, 1 against: Acquire a maintenance account.
2 for, 1 against: (Sequenced) Investigate local system hiding.
1 for: Acquire home users, home users on Low
1 for: (Sequenced) Research stealth, home users  on Low.

In community:
1 for, 1 against:  Staff Secure Network Account, home user on Low. (Assuming Wimdit was against this)

Obviously there is some disparity there so I'll let discussion continue. Besides updating every 12 hours (give or take) might miss out people.

What what what
We can make money by playing poker; we must do this. Learn to poker at once.
Acquire more home users also.

Q:Has the investigation into the load spike in the university ceased yet?
If it has, increase load to low.
If it has not, maintain 0% load on university network until investigation ceases.

Ah That game is cool by the way (downloaded and played it for a few days...) took me a while to get the hang of it but cleared Easiest after 10 tries, most of them being practice. Easy after 2 goes and Normal after 5 goes. Must say that its easier to get/Use GHz in this Forum Game...

Much liking this...

The pc game sacrifices realism for gameplay considerations.

In reality, if you paid for server time on a server farm nobody would know or care what you were running on it. If you bought a warehouse legally and had it filled with computers it would be very very unlikely to be discovered and even if it was its unlikely that anyone would try and shut it down.

In fact people would be MORE curious if the computers all suddenly self-destruct when anyone walks in.

In the game, it is more that they are even noticed, or that someone saw their communications as suspicious, even slightly.

Observation concludes that humans operate at a substantially slower rate than Artemis. While the University investigation continues, monitor its activity. Guardian-00FC supports the plans of   Creative-04B1 and Creative-04A1.
