I love the fact that you've managed to catch Nemani completely unprepared.  It's nice to write him absolutely not in control of the situation for once.

Mania, channeling what remains of Carnis. Hopefully it won't cost an act, because I'm not actually planning on using him, nor is he as effective in battle as he would had he not eaten Mania at first. Essentially, it's Mania talking. The sane side of Mania.

Remember, Astra'ath feeds on fear. The whole point is to terrify mortals as the eye's gaze sweeps over them, because they hope nothing will happen. The eye evokes mortal terror, as is its purpose.

Fortunately for the populace, Astra'ath and Chara's second skirmish will happen outside Aether space, unless the former spends acts to circumvent the stellar defenses (which he may not even know about).

Unfortunately for the populace, things may get a lot worse once I finish my post.

Poor Nemani.  :P

I am a bit confused how Frandor even got there, as he obviously came with malicious intent.

There is a reason the gaunts came, and why they were acting mostly civil.
