Flooding the circus? [Spoilers]

Is it possible to direct the river to hell, where it floods it?

It should be theoretically possible... I'm not sure what effect it would have though. Do demons breathe?

Yeah, as long as it doesn't physically touch any magma (which it wouldn't unless you were already flooding hell with magma), the liquid will get down there.  I believe demons that can fly/swim will be able to swim against the current though.

Same as with magma, really...

Only I think the ones that wouldn't be killed by magma won't drown either due to getting out too quickly and/or not being able to drown.

should figure out if they can drown though, I guess.  Would eliminate some steps for killing off hell if one doesn't have to obsidianize the entire layer.

But would it spread all over the world, cause you know hell connects with all the maps.

Could you encase Hell in obsidian by alternatingly flooding it with magma and water?

Could you kill all the clowns that way?

What about all the old Spirits of Fun?  Aren't there going to be demons like that down there who would vaporize the water before it gets to them?

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

You can try flooding it all you want, but it won't do you much good; its bottomless pits will absorb all the water/magma you throw down there.  Well, unless you paved over said bottomless pits, and even then, it might flow off the edge of the map.  And if you can send masons to pave over hell, odds are you don't need to flood it anyways.  And yeah, there's a chance of Spirit of Fun style demons to vaporize the water as well.

No, not hell's bottomless pits. Normal ones, yes. But all of them? No.

Um, what I meant was, dump magma, dump water, over and over, eventually sealing over

and making the dwarfiverse safe again.

Theoretically, that might be possible.  It would be highly impractical, of course, but in Dwarf Fortress that's just the sign of a great plan.  Of course, you wouldn't be able to do anything about the area beyond your own embark site.

The

don't just spawn in thin air, do they? I thought if I just sealed up all the

s and over the

, then I'd be fine.
