Trust them if they say it can take a long time.

My Computer is old, but can run dwarf fortress with like 150 FPS with 50 dwarves.

Europa barbarorum still needs like 10 minutes to start. Most likely your`s didn`t freeze but it still have to load. Wait longer.

But don`t worry, only the start needs that long. Yeah, ingame load times (before battles) can take some time, too, but the loading screens are the most awesome ones you ever saw. Full of historic information.

Oh, and the turns are fast. Despite the many factions.

(If you haven`t played EB yet and you choose any other faction than rome or carthago your campaign will be fun. If you want the most fun take hayasdan or pontus.. Hehehehe)

Sweboz units are all the same, somehow. If you want to < play interesting barbarian faction choose the lusotannan (And mod the vasci armoured shock troops back in.) Or maybe the casse or getai.

Though, the most enjoyable faction so far for me was baktria. They simply have so many different kinds of units..

I would also suggest pushing north, while you build up a strong navy. Once you get that strong navy, move on to north africa.

Yeah, I was thinking we conquer the Apennine peninsula, then break our alliance with Carthage and conquer them. Hannibal isn't getting his dirty elephants anywhere near me!
