Man, I'm going to have to try these worlds out.  I'm spoiled for great world gens, yet I want to keep playing my old forts :(

I recently came across a huge waterfall... though it was in a freezing biome... so... giant -frozen- waterfall!

Don't suppose you've got a screenshot of the embark screen showing location?
This is just the seed for the world. That means when someone else generates a world using this seed, it will be completely different from what I have.

I do recall that the waterfall was on the edge of two biomes... one was frozen, the other was cold.

That's not how seeds work! In fact it's the opposite!

Unless you meant that you don't have the rest of the world gen info.

No, I have the world gen info.

I used a Random seed when generating though, so unless someone can tell me where to find it...

I've also abandoned that fortress since, so it'd be difficult to find the exact location, unless someone knows a trick to do that.

Assuming you have another fortress in the world:
*Copy the save folder and rename it to regionX where X is a number not already used.
*Abandon your fort in the copied save folder.
*Start a new DF game, go to Reclaim, find the fortress location.  This should bring up the right local area on the map, and will have the 'dwarven settlement' icons on all the local tiles you embarked on.

Someone explained how to get worldgen info in a post on page 2.

I have a 10-z waterfall  (stream into major river).  The map has aquifers, but that isn't an issue as the major river has cut deep enough to bypass them.

World-Gen info

Now...  be careful.  I have a decent number of titans in this world.  Might want to change that for yourself.

I embarked on the site you gave me.  Unfortunately, it plopped me on top of the partially frozen river at the beginning of spring...

Hmm.

First, that's hilarious. Second, are there multiple biomes on the embark site? If so, select one that you'd like your dwarves to start in the middle of on the embark screen; a surprisingly little-known trick. If not, just regen the world, turn off temp, move your stuff off the river, then turn it back on.

Thanks for the tip.  I must've inadvertently done that since I reclaimed and started on the south bank.  Now to wait for the next freeze so I can mine out the drowned supplies.

where are you embarking?

Personally, I embark on the peninsula, hit 'd', locate the aquifer, go 1 tile down, and build my central staircase there. Then I use the above layer for farming, and the rest of the peninsula is aquifer-free (from my understanding).

No promises for the other 2 sides of the river.
