Is it not possible to dye metal cloth?

If I have a piece of spoiler cloth, will I not be able to dye it?

Is it possible to fire water over a hole in the ground? If so how?

Is the diagonal movement to remove pressure a bug or feature?

I'm trying to build a multi-story above ground building... I can build walls all around on top of other walls but apparently not on top of doors?

So how do I complete a wall on the second story on top of the spots where the doors on are the first story?

thanks!

Build a floor over that spot first.

Except you can't build walls on top of constructed floor.

Anyway, you don't have to build a wall on top of another wall. As long as a wall is directly next to another wall (either from the side, from the top, or from below) or to a floor tile (in the same way) it won't collapse.

I doubt that you can stack a wall on a floor. I've never got any seen issues with wall unable to be constructed above door either.

Huh. Did not know that. Must have just been lucky that in my constant renovating I've never attempted to.

Strange situation:

One of my moody dwarfs need sbody parts. So I designated an animal to be butchered and made a full time butcher (no other labors activated). I also tried to get my haulers to fetch a freshly killed kobold corpse (since I'm not sure wether body parts can be animal or must be humanoid...??)

But my butcher doesn't do anything. He's marked as "no job", but doesn't even try to catch that animal.
The animal is NOT a pet.

How do I get those dorfs to butcher the animal before my moody one goes berzerk?

Did you set the animal to "adoptable" instead of "ready for slaughter" by mistake?

Does the search (for embark location) work reliably in 2010 .18?

I am now on my 10th world (many thanks to perfect world generator!) and aside from the fact that I have never yet been able to find any location with dolomite listed, I get the strangest results from the search function.

Even if I put nearly all of the search terms to N/A, and set height to "high" it often chooses a location that has a 4 as its highest point.   There are plenty of tall mountains in my worlds.

What I am trying to find is an area similar with 5-7 (or more) in height but I also want trees and some rain.  I.e. I want the Olympic forest in the foothills or low mountains, but for the life of me I can't seem to find the right combination of settings to make worlds with good embarks with these conditions.

About adventurer mode:  how would I go about using wrestling/striking/kicking effectively?  I tried to go all Bruce Lee on a vile groom and he ate me.

I believe that it is possible, but I could be wrong.

Make sure you train up those skills first, and if you wear armor have a high armor user skill to get around the speed penalty.
In the end, unarmed combat is really just not as effective as armed combat, I'm sorry to say.

Here's one I've always been confused about: how do people find magma without embarking by a volcano? Do you have to just dig down and get lucky? How does one consistently locate magma?
