You can't build constructions on other constructions.
Just build a wall, you don't need a floor first.

Deconstruct the floors where you want the walls (d - n).

Don't build floors there next time.

It's mostly the vermin remains that take up too much space.

If you change your refuse orders (o-r-k, i think) to dump "other", then vermin remains will get dumped, instead of kept.

One small question:

I want to farm outside crops, in security. I read on a random forum thread, than we can make an area ''outside'' and ''light'' by channeling from outside, and cover the hole with floors.

Before trying, it could work or not? Work on (mudded) stone?

It should work. I'm unsure about the muddied stone part though. I think aboveground crops will only grow on soil.

Another question:

I have been trying to get the stone-dump into special refuse pile thing going and I have followed the wiki instructions and I have designated a bunch of stone for the pile, but after one season not s single piece of stone has been dumped.  Now I do keep my dwarves pretty busy.

Do I need to re-assign a dwarf to do nothing but haul stone in order to get this to work?

I'm building an execution tower to get rid of some stone (why'd I dig that pit...). Pimp gold-coloured orthoclase execution tower, yeaaaaah boi. Problem is, most of my prisoners are goblin thieves, and I've heard they don't behave well while they're being transported. Should I first assign their cage to be built (read: hauled) to the top of the tower, and THEN for them to be assigned to the High Drop?

Also, can I restrict valley herbs to strictly for use in making golden salve somehow? I'm not sure if it even has other uses. If they don't, can I restrict the seeds (if any) to being strictly for farming?



That is how the top of my execution towers are designed.  The goblin thieves never get away because the instant they are let out of the cage the dwarves kick them in the pit.  This is because they are stockpiled right next to the opening.

That is not how it works.  You set a garbage dump with i(zone) not p(stockpile).  Select a rectangular area after pressing "i" then press "g" to set it as a garbage dump.  The dwarves will then haul it there.

How do I find tigermen? Can I generate a world with a lot of them or do I have to wait for the elves to be bros? I would really like to tame them and train them into war beasts (I've already altered my raws).

I dont s'pose anyone could tell me what armor I can wear both of, how many that can wear total, etc

The armor page on the wiki has a section that starts with:

Head:
2 Caps
1 Helm
6 Hoods

That entire section is the maximum and ideal assortment of items to wear. Where there's 2 or 3, they're labeled as "Cheap" (If you don't have the materials for the other ones) or "Foreign" meaning that at least one item must be gotten from caravans or the murdering of others.
