Relocate your main fort to the magma workshops area.

Maybe i try this one, but i dont have much room down there with all the Caves and Magma Seas^^

@ Lord Shonus idea

I Thought Burrows applied to all Dwarfs, wouldnt all of them hang around in the Area? Also i could make the Sleeping Rooms close to the Forges for the Workers, but they would still need to walk back up because my Meeting Hall is there, is there a way around that? And with the Pit, i know ho to designate one, but how do i make Dorfs drop things into it?
You misunderstood. Burrows only apply to specifically assigned dwarves, assigned in the burrows menu. What you're thinking of is the ability to use an alert to assign all civilian dwarves to a specific burrow. Similar but unrelated concepts.

I think I heard it's possible to show/view this, but idk how. Is it possible (if so, how) to view why the world genorator rejects worlds? It would really help, the seed I'm working on is causing 1000+ rejects, and I can't see why.

Depends on if it's the advanced worldgen or not. But if it's just the basic worldgen I recently found out that high savagery + high civilization = failed worldgen. You have to pick one or the other.

Well, there is the [LOG_MAP_REJECTS] tag in the d_init file. Don't know if it'll apply to a basic worldgen or not.

How do i commit the mass genocide of the exceedingly large animal population in my fort? I was going to butcher them all, but its filling up my food stockpile and it seems to be a big trouble to slaughter them all. Is there a way i can just wipe them out, in a fairly simple manner? I lack magma, so scratch that.

also- is there a way to find out when exactly a dwarf died?

I think the units list will give you info on death ("U")

You can use the animals as target practice for your military, then dump the corpse.

Unless you have pet elephants or building destroyer flagged critters, in which case, drop the ceiling on them.

Is it normal to find a pressurized volcano (a volcanic eruption) when embarking to/reclaiming a site?

No, magma isn't naturally pressurized in DF.

A question about diagonal creature passing from one z-level to another.
I was hoping to figure this one out myself, but unfortunately my fort wasn't blessed with flying attackers.

All drafts are side view:

XXXXXX     X=Wall, _=Empty Tile, 7=Water
XXX___
777XXX     If I understood correctly, amphibious creatures are able to move from left to right and vice versa.
XXXXXX

XXXXXX     X=Wall, _=Empty Tile
XXX___
___XXX     (Flying) creatures should not be able to move through here, am I correct?
XXXXXX

XXXXXX     X=Wall, _=Empty Tile, B=Raised Drawbridge
XXX___
___B__     Are flying creatures able to move through here?
XXXXXX

Thanks for helping me out.

SAVE PLEASE. this is interesting.

Correct on all three counts.
so water-water is yes, water-air is yes, air-air is no, and with bridges it is yes.

If this is a side view, creatures will not be able to move from left to right.  Sideways diagonals aren't passable.

Fairly certain that flying creatures will not be able to move through this either.

I'm building an execution tower to get rid of some stone (why'd I dig that pit...). Pimp gold-coloured orthoclase execution tower, yeaaaaah boi. Problem is, most of my prisoners are goblin thieves, and I've heard they don't behave well while they're being transported. Should I first assign their cage to be built (read: hauled) to the top of the tower, and THEN for them to be assigned to the High Drop?

Also, can I restrict valley herbs to strictly for use in making golden salve somehow? I'm not sure if it even has other uses. If they don't, can I restrict the seeds (if any) to being strictly for farming?

Actually, they (at least some of them) can. It may be unique to magma-swimming creatures.

This is correct, I didn't realise that the B was a drawbridge.
