Can I ask a question about cavern fishing?

I'm looking to build up a supply of shell before a strange mood hits and I can't seem to get any turtle in the muddy pools. Will a simple pier one z level above the cavern lake be safe enough?

Getting spammed with "job cancelled, item misplaced" by many dwarves. Any way to pinpoint what they cant get to?
usually an item in a bin, or an item placeholder in a bin which has since been moved.

Is there anyway to see the embark information again? I stopped playing for a while and don't remember any of the Biome information for my old fort :-\

Anyone who doesn't have a lever causing global apocalypse isn't playing the game correctly
But it should be easy enough not to use them in a way you feel is dumb while letting other people have their hilarity.

building "health" seem to be hard coded. You can however, "armor" your depot with walls.

Copy/paste into the same area, load up the copy, abandon fort then reclaim. Don't know of any other/easier way.

Copy/paste into the same area, load up the copy, abandon fort then reclaim. Don't know of any other/easier way.
keep tabbing until it show the minimap. Basing on the minimap and the condition of murky pools you can determine your fort's location.

In the raws I was poking around with body sizes, and I noticed that there were three body size for cave crocodiles. I assumed that the first descriptor was assigned to cave crocodile children, and that the other values were a range that the adults were assigned to. However I then saw that there were other creatures that had no child caste, and still had three body size descriptors. Does anyone know why there are multiple descriptors, or what the prefixes to the actual body size value means? (ex: [BODY_SIZE:2:0:1200000])

Also I was wondering how the attack damage of a creature was calculated. Is it based solely on body size and what natural weapons they have?

On the same level as the open space above where the actual water is, yes-- though it's highly inadvisable to have your fisherman standing around on a pier without the security of walls and restrictions to keep him from fishing elsewhere. Even then, I would make sure the way up is hatched and lined with traps.

you first must make a bed room to assign the bed so you're probably better off with 4 1x1 bed rooms
