Thieves will try to break their shackles when they are transferred, that's it. You should be able to transfer other prisoners and trolls just fine.

My curiosity has been peaked by the occasional "dark human" and "dark dwarf" fortresses that crop up during worldgen. Are there any special attributes or aggressive tendencies tied to these civs?
A "dark fortress" is a goblin site. "Dark Dwarf Fortress" is a goblin site that was conquered by dwarves. So there's not a speck of difference between them and normal dwarves.

So I had a forgotton beast take itself for a swim through my caverns. Now the lake is one mass of "pools of forgotten beast extract"
Anyway to clean this up?
Im running a skrew pump as an experiment but the progress very localised at best.

DFhack's clean map utility will do the trick right quick. as for more i-liked-that-fourth-wall solutions, if the lake has an open-to-the-map side, just wait till it clears. if it doesnt.. umm.. pump it to the surface and let it drain away, then refill from another water source that IS endless?

Well thats the thing, it does hit the map edge but its not clearing, theirs no flow so Im just pumping it into the cavern layer above...
It seems to be making progress but maybe thats wishful thinking.

Yes you do.

Also, if you ring the booze stockpile with meeting zones, your civilians and animals will patrol the area for you. Vanilla gnomes are benign and that'd shy them away. Alternatively, station crossbowmen.

Miasma come in wave. Fluffly wamblers and other vermins however leave small remains so it'd generate miasma only once. For a permanent solution, 'o'rder your dwarves to gather 'r'efuse and dump them on a garbage act'i'vity zone.

My (10) dwarves are sleeping outside, in my barracks (normal) or on my rock stockpile rather than my 20 dormitories that are un-owned, any settings I can set it to to fix that? Plus usually where they are dozing off at (other than a room) is about 10-15 spaces from the rooms so I think it's a setting thing...

Twenty seconds after the collapse, 14 dwarves hit the ground simultaneously.
EDIT: make that 15. Not sure what took that last one so long.

just assign the rooms to the dwarves. or make them not dormatories and they'll do it automatically

If I have a dwarf restrained to a rope, and deconstruct the floor under him, will he fall 3-zlevels because of the restraint, or fall all the way down?  I kind of want to create a "hanging" zone for executions.  Though either works, because falling so far will still kill him, hanging or not.
