I just noticed in my civ screen, my only Dwarven civ:

Isanzas, "The Still Crystal", Dwarven
This land has no important leaders.

I just entered spring, so been at my embark point for an entire year, and no dwarven caravan has arrived. Which sucks, cos my dorfs are getting hungry.

Do I not have a mountainhome? Will the unnamed Bat man civilization come trade instead maybe?

YOur civ is dead. You will recieve no migrants and no dwarven caravan.

Well that's kinda cool. And kinda bad.

I got two waves of migrants already... 8+8. Maybe lost stragglers?

So I need to repopulate the lands with Dwarves. That sounds daunting considering how pawned my last fort got by an FB.

The first two waves are hardcoded, you won't get anyone else.
So what this means is, It's breedin' time!

Luck with that too. I can't imagine having to wait 12 years to have another 10 dorfs :P.

How do you set cage traps? I have cages and I have unset cage trap and I have a Trapper. What am I missing?

Thanks

I could be wrong but I think cage traps are loaded by mechanics, not trappers.

That's correct.

I'm not sure anymore if this is entirely true, my fort is in the same situation, and after 10 years I got something like this: "migrants have arrived, knowing this could be their tomb" and 5 dwarves and a lone baby (which got killed on its long crawl of course) entered my map. I did check the population sheet before and the only dwarves listed were mine, which is strange. At the same time I updated from .12 to .13 though, so maybe thats the cause.

Well, to my own question:
I want to set up a kindergarten, to keep my little horde of children out of the way, but it seems I can't set the max weight of pressure plates below '(6000)' which would include adult dwarves and thus render them useless for my plan :/
I've read this to be possible, what am I doing wrong?

Is there a way to clean mud? I accidentally flooded a meeting room while trying to refill a reservoir for its well and now all my pretty engravings are muddy. Is there anything to be done about this?

Construct floors/roads over it and remove them. The mud should poof, but so will your prettyful engravings.

Magma would work, but it too would clean the engravings off the floor.

Maybe I'll try that. I think my nobles were getting jealous of the room anyway.

Building and removing furniture will clean mud and save the engraving.

Build kennels. Cleans a 5x5 area for one piece of rock.
