Dwarf Fortress 0.31.01 Released
« on: April 01, 2010, 03:31:20 am »

Download (Click refresh on your browser if it doesn't show up)

It has been a long journey, and it is ongoing.  This release has all of the new stuff we've been talking about for more than a year, but it is quite buggy.  I also still need to do the merge with the OpenGL/Mac/Linux stuff as I mentioned in the dev log.  We have a new bug tracker at http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/ which we are going to try out (I haven't set up the categories yet).  Expect it to be populated over the next few days with hundreds of issues.  All the same, the testers seemed to be able to enjoy themselves, so please try everything out and have fun!

Awesome! :-D  Looking at the date, should I be worried? :-)

Also, the new site is pretty sweet looking.

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

The new website is a little eyegouging, but-

Hallelujah Hallelujah!  The wait is over!

Aw, right when my nostalgia fort hit its first hematite vein...

*throws cats into pit for a last tantrum spiral hurrah*

Well my hat is off to you. After a half hour or so of digging, oggling the nifty new descriptions and watching a fisherdwarf positively explode in gore against a reptile spearwoman, I feel like I'm playing a whole new game. Everything is fresh and new, the command remapping seems more intuitive (although I'm relearning it all) and the underground is far more lively with these dozens of veins and features. I claim to have encountered the first Giant Cave Spider, having breached an exploration shaft literally right into a web. The new combat is lively and fun to read, with skulls being impacted into brains by my warhammer and more than a few arena beasties slain... well, more accurately a pile of dead dwarves from elven pikemen and dragons.

I took a shot of vodka to your health, Toady. Ice cold, blue label Black Eye, straight down. Kicked like an elf-maiden under the sheets; that is, it warmed up to me. Go take a nap in the sunshine out there, its a beautiful day to feel like an accomplished man, and you've earned it.

You picked the best day to release this. I thought I was being fooled and then I was pleasantly surprised.

Wow, Toady... I think your awesome has broken the internet. Seriously, I think it's cancelled working in order to play DF.

It was funny, when the forum went down I made a post on /tg/ joking that it might be the update. And here it is.
