I don't see any noble as useless, I see some as "more useful" though. All nobles except the Dungeon Master, Bookkeeper, and Hammerer I see as useful for haulers,cleaners,lever pullers, etc. While the Dungeon Master tames, Bookkeeper records stockpile records and the Hammerer gives out punishment.

Mu Countess just proved herself useful by throwing a kobold from a 10ish z height bridge. I think she's a keeper.

I have to agree.  The only purpose of a Sheriff is to allow dorfs to be beaten or put in prison for 'crimes' like not making a bunch of steel goblets.  He doesn't even get a cool hat.

And I use the job manager to do most of my job orders, so in my eyes, the manager is right up there with the broker, bookkeeper and dungeon master.

I'm not sure what you should get the consort, but it should definately involve magma and a whole lot of possiblitities of somthing going wrong........
