This sounds entirely enjoyable.

Dear Unnamed Fire Imp,
 Get the fuck out of my magma vent. You've already killed one swordsdwarf as he jumped into the volcano to attack you and burned to death hundreds of Urists below.

I started as a bow-elf, am going to make stone arrows as my kin somehow manage to make our wooden items without killing our beloved trees.

Go ahead. Come and put a bolt in my face. I'd probably freeze to death before you'd even get to me, 'cause I started in a VAMARIAN settlement. I.e. in the middle of a TUNDRA wearing nothing more than rope reeds and cotton.

In RL, cotton can kill you via Hypothermia if it gets wet and you don't get dry.

I posted this somewhere, it has big spoilers about the game but I learned that when controlling an adventurer and facing impossible odds to survive, you use your head. It beats the AI everytime.

Long post.
~~~~~~~~~~~
So here came my Sylvan elf, one of the last of his race as it was told in the legends. He called upon those brave or foolish enough to follow him on his daring quest, the Nordic tribes as well as the Keepers followed him making a party of 10 in all. Knowing his skill yet also his weaknesses - being that he was not as strong as the dwarves of legend (who were sadly wiped out.) he set foot in the mile long tunnel breaching the earth.
On his way he found tons and tons of cavern monsters (Gremlins, Crundles, Elk Birds, Rutherers...) and had to slay them all except for those birds. That could not be said about his allies, whittled down to a man from the savage horrors, who then bled to death by a tiny bite in the finger...  :'(
Alone,without anyone to high-five for the safe descent and too weary to head back to the surface he trudged on. Finally coming upon the air-tight room. Levers were pulled, gears were turned and the bridge dropped, letting only him in. For safety measures if he wouldn't make it out alive, he pulled the other lever, sealing him inside.
What was left to say was that he saw a fortress of pure black rock. Slade.
The denizens were not too happy to see him and came upon him in a torrent of vengeance.
Slow, lumbering vengeance...
Undead, too many years down there. Easy prey. Some floors down and he came upon the blade. Realizing his goal was at hand he pulled it from its pedestal, the floor gave way.
Curiosity overcame him and now with a new blade in hand he descended into the depths, or the deeper depths so to speak.
Nothing but floors of rotting undead.
Until he spotted a Black demon hiding behind a stairwell, it and only it saw him. It seemed easy being a one-on-one fight. One difference was just in size, both contestants were well muscled and ready to fight to the death.
The other was that the demon could breathe dust...   :(
And freezing vapors.     ???
And boiling steam...     :-\
(Thats Genesis for you.)
From the upper stairwell they fought, the elf retreating back to avoid the heavy clouds rising from the demon.
Running back to the upper levels with nary a scratch he wondered why in the world he was doing this, he can outrun a demon but with his allies dead then who would tell of his stories if some unfortunate accident would befall him? He was only talented in the sword and proficient in his defense, how crazy was he to come down and try to get what was not meant for the world to see?
Well, he was here and they were not. He had only one chance at this as he looked at his new treasure, he turned around and shouted
"Cursed be ye foul demon, I carry the blade that sealed you here and I shall do so again!"
All that replied was laughter, mocking deep laughter. It echoed through the halls and filled his head. Dizzyness overcame him for a moment, a moment the demon used to boost himself using his dust towards the helpless elf all the while breathing his deathly mixture of heat and cold.
The only thing the elf could think of was blaspheming the demon, indicated by a universal gesture using his hand. It somehow worked and that was what caught the demon's attention. It made a grab for it using its wing and the elf swung his blade in return.
It missed its mark by a few inches, glancing off the scaled hide. A quick turn of the blade and it hit right into the abdomen, cutting the guts.
The demon realized its folly and brought out its inner rage, it couldn't die after being imprisoned down in this pit, sharing the same room and breathing space with others just like him. He wouldn't stand another second down here!
But it was too late, its rage blinded its attacks and the elf took the initiative to leap on its back, avoiding the clouds of death from its sacs and cut off its head in one fell swoop.
"Not a scratch...would you believe that."
He put the body and head into his wolf backpack and snuck away, unharmed and unhurt. Straining to carry his pack with him.
~~~
If anyone can tell me how to upload pics then please do, this adventure was a blast of fun! Also, I just went straight from character creation, got a few camp quests, honor and glory and headed straight to the fortress and the depths within.

Where is that post, and how old is it?

~~~~~~~~~~
I pick up a small group of Vamarian soldiers: two hammerfoxes, an axefox and a crossbowfox. I am heading out from here in an effort to strengthen my weaponry, in other words pick up rocks from the ground and make them pointy. This would certainly improve my chances of survival.
Looking at the map, I see a cluster of Sand-person settlements. They've snatched many of our children, and I'm about to get vengeance on them. I gather more members for my group, sleep on the outskirts of a hamlet of theirs until nightfall, rush in, and kill all the occupants of a house. I somehow managed to gain a scorpion dagger of theirs in my equipment. I'll use that, despite that it's made of copper, a relatively flimsy material, I've heard.
I gathered 4 members. After I take out the residents of a few houses (it will most likely be morning by then), I will escape back to the outskirts and sleep until nightfall again. I move in to the houses and repeat this process until all in the settlement lay dead. Their knives and other weapons I shall take for my own good and use, such as carving out arrow and spear shafts from fallen dead trees. I could sell them at a nearby friendly town for a small sum, which I could then use to buy extra food, ammunition and armor to melt and re-forge.
I should go off in search of more group members. I shall write more tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~
I'm not sure if the nearby sand-person camps actually stole children from the Vamarii, but I'm going to go kill the sand-people just for the fun (and potential profit) of it.

I finally got a damn fine world with very high civs, small world, short history, minerals everywhere (the best metal I could get in my last world was cobalt D:     ), and everything else medium. Also tried the SOFTC world with advanced parameters, but crashed the game :(     Ah well, I got a kick ass world at least! Also, one of my orcish civs called 'The Decent Nation' have a hopless slave as their symbol. WTF, df?

The next time I get a quest to go kill a bandit, I'm gonna wait till they say "Prepare to die!", and pull a Man With No Name and shoot them all.

When they're fleeing, I'm gonna pull a Captain America and hurl my shield at 'im.

My adventurer is being tracked by fiends. I do not know why. Randomly when I come out of (T)ravel I will get messages like "the horse is struck by a fireball", and I just got ambushed by "the dancing paddles boats of shoveling" or some nonsense, and instead of bandits, all I see is a Hadrosaur Fiend.
*Note: this is vanilla.

Good thing I trained up my archery on all those buzzards, no way I'm going near it and its poisonous sting.

EDIT: oops. There it goes. Chased me for a while, then got distracted. Now it's got a CamelToe.
EDITx2: it chased a camel squadron and I lost it, but the nearby bandit camp I was leading it towards has had visitors. MALSIREP the HORSE is lying dead in the middle of it, covered in Hadrosaurid Extract and it's own blood. I didn't think bandit camps had activity when you weren't there.

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

I wouldn't be too surprised to hear that that fiend was somehow THE bandit in that camp. The only one. And the horse was probably a historical figure for killing some number of people and was killed by the fiend when it attacked it in world gen in that camp, where it was defeated... any other corpses or bandits?

Today... I had my best adventurer yet. And he died...

I just looked him up in legends. Among a list of factions too long to count, he was either a Legendary Hero or a Famous Hero

Thirty-five notable kills. This includes a Red Dragon, two minotaurs, a huge horde of goblins and barghests... And a bronze colossus, which he won by slowly chipping away, for absolutely ages.

Nine other kills, including a dragon raptor.

He did all this without changing or equipping any equipment bar what he started with, and with absolutely no throwing, wrestling or biting as slightly cheap tactics. He was an Axedwarf, through and through. Some sort of demonic fiend in a shrine caused him to begin melting, which somehow led to him bleeding to death. Before then, he did not suffer a single injury. Not one.

Kadol Axechannels, the absolutely ruler, I'll miss you.

my adventurer Killed the Human King in his sleep, taking advantage to the opportunity  to slit his throat  and then remove his phallus ( genesis)
While he bled out on the ground.

He then picked up the phallus stuffed it in his pocket and ran like hell to the next civ where I retired him. now he hangs out in taverns  showing his prize off to people
