That usually happens, and it sucks pretty bad when it's your weapon hand. I lost a human to a bashed in hand that never healed.

I just found two camps right next to each other. It only showed one on the travel map, so I guess they're in the same zone or whatever too?

You can't see them together on the same screen or anything but they're still pretty close. I mean I only found out because their leader found me while I was killing the other camps bandits.

Edit: Actually they both are on the map, I guess you need the quest to see the camp, or I just forgot. Still pretty neat though

Just fought a jungle titan completely composed out of steam. An arrow destroyed it's shell, then I round-house-kicked it in the body and it evaporated. How the fuck do people get terrorized by these things?

btw, fuck yes, mining picks use mining skill. If it's a high-quality pick, bronze+, then I've not seen anything below a torn muscle/artery when it lands. Usually it shatters bones and skewers organs.

Can anyone explain this?  I got a quest to kill a human crossbowman and I get to the camp but it's relatively empty.  I see a U outside my field of vision and when I reach it to investigate, all that's left is a corpse.  I check my announcements and see this.

What's strange is that I don't have any bowmen in my party.  I looked around for any enemies and didn't find anything.  Something killed my target but I can't find it.

EDIT: Oh and for some reason I'm able to strike her with my finely crafted copper greaves although I never remember equipping them . Might finish her off with those.

You probably picked them up off the ground when your backpack was full. Or something equally as silly.

Actually, i never was able to full a backpack, even if i put 3 other backpack in. The a 2-handers. Then a hydra corpse.

I sliced a bandit's leg off on my newest character. I think proceeded to kick him once in the head and jam his skull through his brain. God I love this game.

While gathering an army at the human castle for my first serious quest, a goblin prisoner ran up to me when we were about to head out. I spoke to the pitable creature, who only wished to get out of bondage. Not particularly trusting of goblins, but still pitying him, I offered to take him with me. I figured he could either prove himself a hero, or die a warrior's death.

This goblin then proceeded to survive three assaults on night creatures, as well as a couple ambushes. He never got in a killing blow, though eventually he did pick himself up a nice boning knife. He eventually used it on a pair of lions that ambushed us after cutting through a kobold camp.

Our next assignment was to kill a minotaur, which as far as I could tell lived far away in the middle of the mountains. How could he be a threat so far away? But I shrugged and undertook the long trek. And somewhere out in the snowy wastes, I turned around and our goblin companion was gone. He has his freedom now, I suppose. They do say goblins don't have a loyal bone in their bodies. I guess I'd hoped differently.

10 Limestone, 250 CE

I have been joined in my adventures by Crossbowman, and Axeman, and a Maceman,
whose names I didn't bother to learn.  They want me to lead them to glory and death?
That makes them meat-shields.

We woke up at dawn to

reached the cave at around noon.  There, we found Arul the Consort, a beastly
woman who towered above our heads.  Upon closer examination, I determined that
she was the reason I should fear the night.  And that she was fat.

She was too heavy slow to hit any of us, and we were too weak to pierce through
her natural armor.  After 10 minutes of exchanging ineffective blows, the Maceman
(I call him Eddy.  His real name is too weird) broke her foot.  She fell to the ground.
Five minutes of chopping later, she finally bled out.

**A shimmer of light from the water catches your eye.  You reach in, and pull out a silver warhammer.  You scan the water to see what else you may find.  The water's muddy, but you can barely make out what may be a skeletal human hand a few feet in.  Feeling an increased urgency, you look back into the journal, skipping some pages**

It hasn't even been a month, has it?  And yet it's happening! I'm finally becoming
famous throughout this country as an expert hammerman and
warrior.  And, as a hero.  I could almost cry with happiness, if not for my ex-companions.

I woke up early this morning to raid the camp of Tequil the outlaw bowman.  After
DAYS of preparation!  And what do I find?  That the COWARDS slipped away in the
middle of the night.  So now I must make a multi-day trip to the nearest fortress,
ALONE, in order to

It's a beautiful day out.  So peaceful, nothing could spoil it.  I'm sitting under an
oddly twisted oak tree, whose branches overhang the water.  I never actually
learned to swim.  An incident as a child caused me to avoid the water at all costs
for decades.  But looking over this pond...

How could something so peaceful as water be dangerous?  It's decided! I shall
practice swimming, starting at the next town!

In other news, there isn't much to write about the last mark.  My new companions and I snuck up
on the "bandit camp" of Tequil's.  By bandit camp, I mean Tequil and one other
guy with an axe.  My allies chopped both of them to tiny bits before I could eve--

The journal ends here.  You take a few moments to scan the environment, but trees limit your vision.  You stash the book in your backpack, retrieve your fishing pole, and prepare to leave.  You grab the silver warhammer with your free hand, hoping it will serve you better than it did its previous owner.

So I'm playing a Nord Wrestler. I'm wearing naught but my braises and I'm still early in my adventure. But I'm feeling gutsy so I track down this Night Freak. My attempts to combat this thing are clumsy at best and I was getting VERY lucky to avoid the majority of its attacks, I figure I'm a goner just as soon as the luck runs out.

Then this happens.

Also just because I'm a sick bastard. I made myself a nice thong out of some Nord skin I found inside the Freak's den.

I set out as a demigod hammerdwarf, did a few missions. Found a fort and decided that I definitely needed some help, because I had a close call earlier with a Freak of Night.

I recruited a couple people - a Lasher lady and a Spearman guy. They were shoddy at first, taking a crazy amount of blows, and I was sure they wouldn't survive. The Lasher specifically lost the ability to walk and kept passing out. They both lost a hold on their weapons. Then the Spearman FLIPPED OUT. He became enraged and ran off over the hill towards the center of the bandit camp, so I left the unconscious Lasher behind and went over the rise to see what he was doing. Apparently a Crossbow-wielding bandit earned the Spearman's ire, and made him completely feral by shooting at him.

Anyway, before I can even get close enough to swing, he bit the Crossbowman's mouth, latching on and bruising the cheek. I thought this was hilarious enough, until he bit the guy's eyeball and started shaking him around by it. I eventually get over there and hit the Crossbowman (now a Wrestler due to all the grappling he had to do with my crazy guy) in the head a couple times.

My Wrestler proceeds to kick apart the guy's brain.



I'm kind of scared of him by now. He's bitten off several peoples' toes and ears at this point, and seems almost unstoppable when he gets his teeth into someone. Let's hope he doesn't turn on me...

I was worried when I entered the minotaur's lair with only three companions, and all of them lacking the ablity to stand. I figured they'd just get put down one by one and I'd regret losing most of my meatshields in the mountains somehow. But after some poking at the beast with my lesser skilled weapons, I took him out with a lash strike to the head without losing anyone.

Upon my return, the lord of the castle sent me to accomplish my most daunting task yet - kill a tundra titan. I'd never even seen one, so I recruited tons of soldiers to take it on.

We were ambushed on the way by goblins. I can only wonder if the former prisoner orchestrated this somehow. At any rate, we were doing just fine until the goblin commander roared out of hiding. His skill with the spear was unsurpassed. I tried my old standby of lash-to-the-face, which had served me well even on night creatures. I couldn't hit the guy. Even as I was fading out, a messy spearwound in my head, I watched him dodge every arrow my bowmen sent his way...

What a beast. A worthy opponent, sez I.

24th of Malachite/420/Opuxah/The Eternal Dimension

Their entrance was greeted with warmth, he recruited a wrestler and told the lord of his exploits. Describing in great detail the gruesome death of each leader. The Lord smiled and put his hands up in the air.
“Fantastic! Ahab you are helping a lot, and I am glad you came to us.” Ahab smiled and looked up at the Lord.
“Thank ye Tohwot, T'is an honor to serve ya.” Tohwot grinned and grabbed Ahab's shoulder, and his face turned solemn for a moment.
“Now I think I can offer you a bigger job, to prove your mettle. I'm speaking for the Confederations of Dining. There is a truly villanious spearman named Senre Keywealthy, he killed many in his lust for power and he seeks to destroy us all. Please go take care of him, come back to me as soon as you accomplish this goal.” Ahab smiled and agree'd, but requested a day to rest and gain strength, their last battles had worn the entourage out.

At dawn Ahab awoke and his companions began to wake with him. They made the long walk to the future kingdom camp, where Keywealthy was hiding. As they entered the land an arrow zoomed by Ahab, he looked up and saw a bowman, and to his side was Senre, she screamed at them and rushed Ahab. He threw two bolts at the woman but both were deflected. As she approached he stabbed Senre in her cheek, tearing the muscle apart and lodging it in her cheekbone. Ahab pulled the blade out and tried to kick Senre but his shot was deflected and she stabbed his right hand with the spear, only breaking skin, however. Ahab growled and slashed the womans hand off. She was killing his companions slowly, and even bruised his leg. Ahab kicked the woman in her ear, jamming the skull through the brain and she was dead. Without Senre the bowman was even more useless then he was alive, and  Ahab bit the humans lower half off then hacked his head in to at the eye ball. Ahab laughed in triumph and pulled his iron sword out of the bowmans head. Another kill, and one more was nearby.
Ahab and his band reached the camp of Gorhax Plungedbraid early in the night, the smell of blood was thick and Ahab howled for Gorhax to come meet his death. Gorhax shouted in anger and started rushing the band of heroes, killing a wrestler before Ahab could reach him. Ahab charged the leader and stabbed him in the brain with his sword, tearing apart the  muscle and snapping a tendon in the upper spine, and the gang rushed upon him, and Ahab ended his life as he smashed his brain into his skull, jamming the brain through the skull and bruising the upper spines nervous tissue. Near the side of camp the group came upon a hammerman who was no trouble for Ahab who snapped her neck with the hammer in his hand.

The group walked towards Yelledpartner and reported their success  to the soldiers after recruiting a few of them, but told them he was needed elsewhere for more slayings and left the soldiers as quick as he returned, though he did have time to sleep outside the castle walls...

It was early morning whene Ahab and his group departed for their next two kills, Luki Throatpast and Quice Tallflew, half way through the journey, an elephant herd attacked them, but the band of adventurers survived. As they entered Luki's camp an arrow was shot and pierced Ahab's lower right arm. Luki called out in triumph,
“Oh you will bleed more by the end of the day! Prepare to die you little fool!” and a barrage of arrows shot at the band. Two soldiers were down, and Ahab ran around the cover of trees, ending up behind Luki as a wrestler charged her, he charged the bowman and slashed wildly, breaking her middle spine and tearing her back apart. Finally the wrestler began to break her every bone, and Ahab went to take care of her guard, a lone spearman already swamped the a mob of adventurers was cut short before Ahab could even get there. The group cheered and headed east, towards Quice...
The sun wish setting and Ahab had just reached the camp, finding another bowwoman, she did not speak and only fired arrows, piercing Ahabs leg and lower body, as well , Ahab rushed her and broke her hand with his mace, then slashed her hand of with his sword, the bow flying off with it. Ahab grinned and began slashed her rapidly and bashing her organs, the group swarmed Quice's pitiful group of humans and murdered them all without mercy. Ahab and his followers shouted and raised their bloody weapons in the air, and set back off to Yellpartner, a two day walk.

Tohwot was ecstatic, grinning and shake Ahab's hand anxiously. He sent his guards off and stood straight in front of Ahab, who listened to the lord speak
"Ahab I have heard of your recent exploits, they are spreading faster than yourself! Please accept my home for rest, you are truly a dwarf of champions."
Ahab smiled and straightened up slightly, and he chuckled slightly and the Lord told him of a  fearsome Ettin named Ida Focusedletters, who killed many in her craze. He asked Ahab to defeat the beast, for the Confederations of Dining, and and Ahab agree'd, seeing adventure and fame in the words.
As Ahab journey'd towards Ida's lair, he was greeted with hostility by the Disloyal Knots, a band of mercanaries sent to defeat his contract, Ahab. Suddenly a band of elephants attacked the scene, goring a goblin wrestler. The adventures smashed into the goblins, breaking apart the group instantly and tearing a couple golbins up in the process. As Ahab worked his way into Usbu the goblin, he began shredding at the speargoblins body, slashing his foot and arms, but the spearman stabbed Ahab in his lower body, stabbing one of his organs  and lodging it in the process. Ahab enraged and pulled the spear closer and removed it from Usbu's grasped the lobbed one his arms off. In the ensuing struggle Ahab removed a leg and took the creature down. His team, slaughtering the other five goblins, soon surrounded them and smashed into Usbu, who was dead in seconds. Ahab howled and looted the goblins small armor, finding a bunch of superior made clothing, he looted it all and smirked, now ready for the fowl Ettin ahead, seeing the lair in the distance.
It was late evening when Ahab and his band reached the Ettin one of his swordmen tripped into the hole, being greeted by the ettin and consequently slaughtered painfully by it. Ahab, the peasant, a lasher, and a hammerman entered first and faced the dreaded beast. Ahab threw a iron spear at the ettin jamming it in the beasts lower lip, he then sliced the beasts right head right heads upper spine, the peasant slashed her in the lower left leg tearing the fat. The peasant tried to stab Ida's arm but to no avail, she broke both his hips, his leg, both his arms, and his chest. Slowly the band trickled into the cave, and Ida was overwhelmed by powerful mob, and Ahab ended the miserable beasts life with a bash to the lest skull with his hammer bashing the brain and tearing the other spinal colemn. The Ettin collapsed and the group howled in victory. They looted the cave and slept their that night.

Ahab is probably my longest character I've written about and makes me think that dual wielding and dodging his rediculously awesome, the combination of sword and mace is devastating and I am rarely hit, and the new armor will help a lot, I was surprised by the ease of which we murdered those goblins, and my human peasant probably will not make it very far now after the Ettin, I can't imagine him walking or attacking with his bronze knife anymore.
