We call it Sunshine, yet the way to grow it indoors has been long forgotten since a dragon killed the only mountainhome producing it. But the damn elves still make it.

Actually, Tuber Beer would probably be a bit closer, assuming bloated tubers are similar to potatoes (from which Vodka is often made).

Magma would ruin it, due to its slow movement. Water is quick and just as deadly.

I think dwarves fit the stereotypical russian almost too well: bearded, lazy alcoholics. Traditionally, vodka (Or, rather, the ethanol) was made from grains, especially wheat, but now it can be made from anything. Vodka made from potatoes is chiefly made in Poland. So, cave wheat would be the thing vodka would be made from, not bloated tubers, if you wanted to make it russian.
