After the gatherers return, I wish to use a hide and some wood to make a tent.

I feel the gatherers should all gather berries from around the campsite. The hunters will stick together while hunting in the forest, to minimize casualties.

Okay. I propose the following things.
All groups return with epic loot (should be a free or cheap action, since they were able to move and gather in the same turn)
I will carve a fire drill
Nirur Torir will start a fire with the drill (Nirur Torir, you all right with this?)
As many of the returned as needed will cook the meat
The elders will eat their portions of cooked meat, dedicating it to the mighty Amku, god of strength, and pray for a good hunt
The hunters will continue hunting
The gatherers will gather rock if possible
If not possible, the gatherers will attempt to make it possible (for example, if there isn't much stone laying around, the gatherers will attempt to make stone picks)

We need meat, guys. Meat is good.

Praying I'll do, but no dancing. I find it to be disrespectful to myself.

Also, I believe our meat is already cooked. I still wish to make a tent, so that we the elders may remain dry when the rain returns.

Looking out for number one, eh? That's the kind of thinking we need around here!

Ah but we are in neolithic people (how can I spell neolithic but not people?) for us dance is not demeaning but merely a way of expression. Also I shall change my vote to a vote against not dancing

You can just have your vote the way it was before: for dancing. That's one for dancing and one against.
Except I'm putting my vote against dancing. Nyaaah.

EDIT: Oh. I see, you were trying to manipulate the majority thing. But you can't do that, that's cheating. You can't vote against not doing something; you can only vote upon positive actions, like eating bread or something, not negative ones like not doing something.

Oh, I'm not voting against dancing. I'm voting against me dancing. Criptfeind can dance humiliatingly by himself if he wants.

Yha I was jokingly gaming the system by counting Nirur Torir as a vote for not dancing and my vote against not dancing. Thus 1-1, not dance fails to pass. I will be good from now on.

I shall offer more berry seeds to Sudile and pray for a miracle. Perhaps she shall grant us prosperity in return.
(Also, do we have knowledge of agriculture?)

Just out of curiosity, what DOES Dwarf Fortress smell like?
Death, Booze, and Insanity.

Argh, no! We can't mess up the scientific rigor! We have to have a control group, at least.

What? No bonus to cooked meat?
Eating uncooked meat is not very healthy, and may cause problems. Cooked meat is standard food.
I will carve a fire drill
All groups return with epic loot (should be a free or cheap action, since they were able to move and gather in the same turn)
Hunters and gatherers have two movement points, which can be used for stuff other than movement. Perhaps I could have named that better. Anyway, it took one action to move and one to gather. Fires can be started as long as fuel is available. Worrying about fire drills is unneeded.

Also, I believe our meat is already cooked.
Yes. It is cooked. You're not cavemen.

I shall offer more berry seeds to Sudile and pray for a miracle. Perhaps she shall grant us prosperity in return.
(Also, do we have knowledge of agriculture?)
You're a hunter-gatherer society. So no. You do know if you plant a berry, you get a bush.
