"Trigonometry" functions made so much more sense in the context of rotation than in that of right triangles, initially.

The polar-coordinates  would be something like

Hmm... this is how you want to do it:

Nasty kerning on the parens, but the notation's a little bit prettier.

What song doesn't work better in Pavarotti?  I can't believe I used to think he was a clown.

I'll be honest with you, though--my entire knowledge of the classical Romeo and Juliet pieces (as opposed to, say, the French musical version comes from Nodame Cantabile.

EDIT: so that wasn't actually Pavarotti, it was just a guy who sounded a bit like him.  The link's been fixed, but the thing I originally posted is here.  As for the difference... ?  Well, the vocal color is extremely similar, but if you listen to the phrasing, the original link 1. has poorer phrased ritardando and 2. far worse staccato'd vocal cutoffs.  In other words, Pavarotti simply has better legato and vocal capacity, as well as what seems to be enhanced vocal support.  I'll also note that he appears to have better control over his vibrato/range, so that there's less strain on the high pitches and the vibrato is more even.
