Starting items:
2 steel bars
2 peices of wood
2 copper pickaxes
1 iron forge
assorted seeds, meat and plants.
2 dogs
1 cat

And you are all named.  Should be FUN, starting now.

And we are the fortress ofAXEBLADE, the group The Axes of Blood. (couldn't be original)

First thing to happen, the cat adopted sulvor, couldn't get a screenshot, was cut out.

And just as the entrance hall is done, we get our first blood, kill was gained by Kilakan!

It worked? And it shouldn't matter if you use 40d or d16. The saves are compatible. I've backed up the world and am using a copy of it in 40d, but it was genned in d16.

EDIT: No axe? Or is that what the steels' for?

It doesn't matter. At this point .zip and .rar functionality is both free and ubiquitous. Heck, use .7z if you feel like it. Better compression rates anyways.

It seems this fort attracts bloody, idiot cannon fodder, because on only 17 hematite, another one of those Kobold theives shows up, well Hugo sure showed him, beat the thing to a right bloody pulp.

Then another came in spooked, the damned cat and took off, seems we need some crossbowmen, let the little buggers have a parting gift.

The merchants... they... got into veiw of our fortress and just FROZE!!!!  This may either mean that we are cursed or that they spotted THIS:

We are calling it the deep fryer, but I like to think of it as the pit.
ANDDD our liason is a fishery worker........ the gods must hate us

You guys think we should continue, this world seems pretty messed up.....

THEN the cat's blood painted the floors, I hate those theives..... as the little bugger was running from us, he spooked the merchants, and now they have left, all is not going well.

and another one bites the dust, and another one does, and another one does, and another one bites the DUST!!

Atleast Sulvor seems happy about everything!

Finnally, when I thought things couldn't get worse, this happens............

There's only seven of em, but we need em so!
Brewer, Thresher, Ranger, Fish cleaner, craftsdwarf, gemsetter and a peasent.

We decided to dispose of the cats body in the only aproperaite way we knew how..... WITH MAGMA!!!!!

Caravan won't come? Sure there's a depot they can reach? As for the fishing liason...I have no idea. I have the save I'll see if that happens.

I don't have a fishery worker. I have GOBLIN fishery worker. ??? I have no idea whats wrong, but the caravan didn't freeze. Maybe something corrupted the game code when I uploaded it?

Lovely. So where did the merchants freeze? And what should we do about this? Ignore the bug and keep playing? Toss my world and find a new one? Any ideas anyone?

wellll they unfroze when a kobold scared the crap outta them, and when they ran I noticed a tree had grown through a wagon, screwing up their movement program, i think I should notify Toady, but I'll keep playing.

A tree grew through the wagon!?! That makes sense I guess, and the goblin fisheryworker isn't causing too much harm so I guess we don't have to scrap the world.  :)

We gotta do something about all these trees man!

kobolds! just how many come every year? it must be their spawning season, and the goblin fishery worker out las my theory to he was a prisoner and somehow raised in the ranks/ last out las died and they picked him. I never had much use of merchants other then when I really needed food or drink. And yay me ;D I really gave that kobold a makeover
