What's disappointing about X3: Terran Conflict is that there is no storyline of what's going on. This is very upsetting to me, I was expecting something as good as the storyline of X3: Reunion or better. X3: Reunion is actually the first X3 games that I've played and I got to say it was average due to how I see some "Plot Glitches" and slowness and other problems that I see in this game.
No storyline? Wut? It's about the Xenon having a badass flying tube.

What actually happened to the Khaak? Did the Terrans scare them away?

I never got to the end of X3's story, I was having too much fun building up my private system and waging a personal war against the Split.

Me? Is that you?

I also didn't pay much attention to the story, and as a Boron, I vowed to conquer the Split.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

Blowing up Paranid and Boron is just funny. :P
I wish there was something to do with your masses of money other than more complexes or fleets. Being able to have a genuine war with sector takeover and advantages would be awesome.

The closest you can get to real war is taking a big-ass fleet into a sector, and tell every single ship in that fleet that every single ship in the sector is an enemy and must be destroyed.

Also, my reason for killing off the Split were totally noble, and not at all related to the fact they kept shutting down my drug runners.

I had good relations with Teladi and Paranid (Paranid ships are the shit, man), the Boron hated me, in a futile way, the Agron gave not a toss one way or the other.

That's where the Mods come in.

Especially the mod called Improved Races, which makes the different races making war to each other. I've been playing with it for a few months and I'm enjoying it !

Find it here : http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=273973

By the way, the patch 3.0 has been released. Doesn't seem to add much except a new plot and a new reward for the Final Fury missions.

Gee, I have been wanting to play this since years ago!

I used to play X2 a LOT. I had a military fleet of a Argon Titan, a Boron M2 (forgot the name), and I think a Split Raptor, escorted by some corvettes (M6's). My trading fleet consisted of 20 Universal Traders. I also had Solar Power Plants here and there.

But the jewel of my personal empire was my Split Elephant, the poor man's carrier that out-sped other capital ships. It carried my three squadrons of Argon Nova. I also personally flied on my Split Dragon when acting as a lone wolf.

This hasn't been posted in...well...in years. But, it was first thread for X3 that came up when I searched "X3".

I was wondering if there is any up to date overhauls for X3 (either TC or Albion).

I only know of Litcube's Universe. But didn't like it that much. I loved the dynamic feel to it and how systems change depending what happens. But, never been fan of games/mods that have a time limit. And from what my friend told me, I have to rush and do things perfectly or certain enemies are so powerful in Litcube I might as well restart if I didn't game the system. That ruined the mod for me forever. But, outside of the dynamic empires and combat, I still couldn't really get into it that much even if there wasn't a time limit. I kinda liked vanilla better to be honest.

Is there any other good overhauls to check out for TC/Albion? I know X3 is pretty old, but are there mods to get or overhauls that are up to date with 2016 content?

I believe Phanon and Revelation can be set via Artificial life settings.

"Would you guys recommend X3 heartily? What kind of replay value does it have? I'm thiiiiiis close to buying it, but this talk of no real goal has me a bit worried. Is it a densely populated universe? How's the modding scene???"

crosspost cause I just noticed this thread.

The two timed threats can be switched off, although Phanon corp is less of the rolling doom presented by the OCT.

Another major mod you should consider is XRM but add the LIFE mod to it as well. So much activity in the universe. Some of the larger battles (and there are many) may hit your fps, as there are no technical updates like in LU.

I'm currently playing Rebirth to give it yet another chance. There's a voice telling me this is time I could be spending with X3:AP. X3 games come with a few missions, some you can complete early in the game but others may require a few more assets under your belt. None are massively difficult and once you are done with them it's up to you to make your own fun.

The modding scene is still quite healthy and since the game hasn't had a major update in a few years most of the abandoned mods still work.

Litcube's Universe is the main overhaul currently, and quite a few players have taken this to be the new standard base game; many mods are being created with LU in mind.

XRM is an older overhaul but is still well regarded. This one cranks everything up to 11.

Ah good. This thread was necro'd less than 2 months ago, so I shouldn't feel awkward  :D

So I got into the X series ages ago with X2. I've had X3: Reunion for ages too, but never managed to really get into that.

Now I've been playing X3 Albion Prelude, and I must say that with the bonus pack (CAG and CLS), it's quite enjoyable.
Finally got into complex building.

I've built a fine self-sufficient complex producing excess energy, ore, silicon and even some crystals, and making lasertowers, particle accelerator cannons, mk2 fighter drones, computer parts and microchips, in Antigone Memorial.
My problem however, is it's popularity. The complex hub's 16 docking bays are always full with traders, plus there's another 48 or so traders circling it outside, waiting for a free docking spot. It does not seem to bother my own CAG traders though, I think they get docking priority or somesuch. But I do seem to have reached the maximum throughput of external sales, because those 48 traders circling outside are waiting and not trading.

Is there any way to add more docking bays, or split the sales into two different locations?

EDIT: hmm crap, it does affect my CAG traders. It only looks like they get priority in system. On closer inspection, what happens is, they hang at the last station they sold wares at, with a 'CAG on standby', until they get a free docking spot to autopilot to. So they have to wait too, just not in system.
