Try #2.  I'm a bit worried that it uses 1/12th of the starting fuel reserves.  Probably won't be doing a lot of task force training on this ship...

I didn't click any of the links, because they refer to a http site instead of https. As far as I can tell, Aurora forums are https.
Never heard of gmx.de either.

Anyone else got a mail like this?

Might want to post that one on the Aurora forums. I just checked there, and no one else has reported it.

I got one as well, as far as I can tell it's just an announcement from the forums. Both links lead to topics on the forum, I checked them.

Hm, I found this on the forum:
https://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?topic=12667.0

For one thing, it's the same as above.  Also, I hadn't realized that Steve no longer maintained the forums himself.  Looks like the forum is actually administered by someone else.  Probably a good thing, honestly.

I got that email too. IIRC, gmx.de is the German version of an old-school free email provider. The only people I've ever known to use that host were German, so it may well have been a locally popular host there back in the early Internet days. The email seemed pretty unsuspicious to me, but also completely irrelevant since I don't use that host. The lack of https is odd, though.

He's working on stuff for a v2.0. I'm trying to remember what was/wasn't present in February. Had he added the new invader species back then? Had the new ground forces been implemented?

Don't remember. But back then he was working on 2.0 and I decided to wait till it was released, but I guess could have played anyway since its been a while and then I forgot about Aurora completely

no sh*t thats awesome. lets see what changed:

http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?topic=12523.0

highlights for me:

Quote
Comets in Sol system will now start at a random distance.
There is a rare chance of encountering large or very large comets.
Automated Damage Control is now the default for new ships. It can be unset by players as needed for detailed control.
Gauss turrets are now researched under Missiles and Kinetic, rather than Energy Weapons.

I have not tested any improved performance.

The increased complexity utterly defeats any improvements made in performance. But then again, let's see what happens in the next few weeks with the  various bugfixes.

The required resolution is 1440 x 900.
That's a lie. 1920x1080, 100% (no) scaling, and if I hide the taskbar I can barely see the bottom of the Display tab on the map window. Checking in Paint, the window title bar is 28 pixels tall. How many more years before Steve figures out scroll bars? And wasn't that supposed to be one of the benefits/reasons for switching to C#?
