I need to play Aurora and X-Com. I can't stop designing my own ships, its like a bloody drug...

How I long for Aurora's complex interface to put my mind at rest... The whole graphical space game thing is generally so boring compared to Aurora. Its funny how deeply one can imagine their space empire among dozens of lines of parameters and a little bit of 2D display. Besides X-Com which is a totally different sub-genre of Scifi, I've got to say Aurora is my most treasured Scifi game. :)

I need to play a round of Aurora and get the hell away from my RP. <_<

I spent all night designing a scale model of a uranium-based fissile core nuclear reactor complete with steam generator, steam-powered turbine, generator, transformer, coolant pool, and such goodies based on schematics of power plants and nuclear submarine reactors I found online.

I need psychological counseling by this point, lmfao.

@Marc : yeah, you really need to use the golden age of navies (late 19th-early 20th centuries) for background stuff. :)

@EhndraS: Cewl. My 1st game of Au since long was an attempt to combine Xcom with Au:
start in the 50's and start with alien crap to research. didn't manage to put alien wrecks on the moon though (&ruins on Mars). Anyone know how todo that? Anyhow, then my labs went all negative on me.

from the system screen (F9?), you have to open it in SM mode, there will be an add ruin button on the lower right.

For the wrecks, you will likely have to create a new empire, give that empire the tech to design whatever ship you want as the wreck, fast OOB it onto the moon and then abandon it.

I did that IIRC... but maybe I opened it before SM mode.
Screens not updating messed me up before.  ::)

Mini: interesting... maybe a not too hightech alien outpost on Mars would be survivable for a pre-N Earth.

You can add ruins from the F9 screen.

On carriers, It's possible to produce a 12-fighter carrier in the 14-20k range for early game. 350k-700k would be a super-heavy carrier with three or more wings attached under my fleet rules.

NINJA: I took it to mean "anti-ship sensor".
That... would imply that the sensor is a weapon.

I really don't think a sensor can be a weapon. :P
Actually, as opposed to "anti-missile sensor" or "anti-fighter sensor".  Same as ASM and AMM missile types.

Actually the navy has some sensor arrays which, if properly focused and punched up to max, could cause quite a bit of damage due to the power they put out.

Of course doing that causes incredible damage to the sensor and it only really works once.

"Captain, enemy fire has damaged the active sensor!"

"Helmsman, ramming speed!

Ensign, prepare to jettison the sensor from the forward airlock!"

"You break it, you buy it!" would be a better line in my opinion. :P

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.
Quote from: Ze Spy
Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.
