Did someone figure out if it's possible to shoot missiles with second stage geo-buoys from PDCs? Because we're kinda doing this IRL too. :)

My Jump Cargo ships doesn't go into the fricken jump point. It keeps comming up with transit failed.
Code: [Select]
Small Fletcher class Freighter    27900 tons     607 Crew     757.6 BP      TCS 558  TH 400  EM 0
716 km/s    JR 2-25(C)     Armour 1-81     Shields 0-0     Sensors 1/1/0/0     Damage Control Rating 20     PPV 0
Annual Failure Rate: 311%    IFR: 4.3%    Maintenance Capacity 3339 MSP    Max Repair 56 MSP
Cargo 15000    Cargo Handling Multiplier 20

JC28K Commercial Jump Drive     Max Ship Size 28000 tons    Distance 25k km     Squadron Size 2
Nuclear Pulse Engine E8 (10)    Power 40    Fuel Use 80%    Signature 40    Armour 0    Exp 5%
Fuel Capacity 200,000 Litres    Range 16.1 billion km   (260 days at full power)

This design is classed as a military vessel for maintenance purposes

Theres only two ships in the fleet and is 100 tons under the jump drive max weight. What's wrong?

I think that's the problem. There's no place for the other ship in the fleet.

How heavy is the other one?

But I haven't played the game so I'm just tossing ideas (propably stupid).

It does, you just need jpeg support compiled in for some weird reason.

I think you specifically have to order them to fill up. on all the fleets I make I set a 'condition' order for them to refuel at a colony within 4 jumps when their tanks reach 30%.

Actually, the size of the jump ship doesn't matter - you could make a tiny one capable of ferrying supertankers if you wanted, so long as the jump drive can accommodate those large ships.

This seems to be inaccurate from a few posting on the aurora forum. From the forum, a Jumpship tonnage limit is equal to its own tonnage as long as its equal to or less then the tonnage maximum of the jumpdrive.

confusing...

maybe you need to check escort in the taskforce ordeers screen?

having read that almost identical ships can be built in the same shipyard without retooling, I have just developed two versions of a science vessel, one geo the other grav.
But this seems not the case anymore in v482, as I cannot select the geo in my grav equiped navalyard.
or am I missing something?

Love the way locked designs now stay locked. :)

Finally I decided to just start over, but the program can't even start a new game correctly.  I go through the new game process from the main menu, and then it just loads the game I was playing before anyway.

1) Did you select the right game?

2) Did you give the games different names? (Because I'm not sure the game will overwrite the old one)

1st one can be done from the main menu.

You can use any ship as a tanker. Just make them go to the stranded ships location, go to task force screen, special orders/organisation tab, move the ships that are out of fuel to the 'tanker's' fleet, equalise fuel, move the ships that were outta fuel back to their original fleet, and you're done.

Also you'll need to give ships orders to refuel/resupply from a colony. They're not smart enough to do it unless they've got the orders...
"durr... We've got 30.005 % of fuel left.... We've got this order to load infra from here (earth) and unload it on titan... 'cargo vessel has been given conditional order to refuel from earth'...."

Seems rather interesting... shame about the minimum resolution, though.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

In the ship design page in the upper right you can designate a ship as a tanker (or collier or any sort of special supply ship)

I don't know if they automatically refuel or reload using them though.

The whole jump thing is overcomplicated.  If my fleet is go in 2026, I shouldn't have to wait until 2028 when I get an overflow error to figure out how to work the jump gate.

I havn't tested it, but I think you can give ships a refuell order on a tanker, and they'll automaticly use the tankers as refuell points if they drop low enough to activate a conditional refuell order.

One thing you could do with this is tow a set of engineless fuell stations to specific points allong your supply routes, especialy if they're long, and periodicly refuell them. Would probably work best if you'd place them not too far away from normal fuell sources, such as a gas giant with sorium. Although if they're too close to such plantes, there'd be no use in doing that in the first place  :-\

Also, do jump-capable ships need conventionall engines to transfer jump points? Because otherwise you could make heavely armed, stationary jumpships to guard your jumppoints and also ferry ships over.

Forgot to say, I can't colonize mars this time :(
Gravity..

Take a look at Titan, a moon of Saturn. It's cost will probably be around 5-7, so pack plenty of infrastructure. It's a lot colder then Mars, but has a higher gravity and with an atmosphere of 1.74 atm (95% nitrogen, 5% methane), it could be easier to terraform. You just need to strip the methane, add oxygen and then fill up with greenhouse gass (In no particular order). No need to pump a metric carpton of nitrogen into the atmosphere. If you want to be fast, you could even forgo stripping the methane, which will limit it's cost to 2 because of a toxic gas. I can't say for sure if upping the greeenhouse factor to 3 actualy makes the temperature high enough to be of use though.

Hmm interesting.
But it doesn't show up in the "potential colonies" screen..
I'll give it a better luck though, thanks :D

I'll get back to playing in minutes, gotta eat something.
There's a hell lot of stuff for me to do in the game, I'm only building up so I don't get PWN3D when I leave the Solar System..

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

When you started the campaign did you make sure you set your species to the proper tolerances?
I believe it's
max deviation in oxygen pressure: 50
max deviation in gravity: 70
max deviation in temperature: 22
max atmospheric pressure: 4

at least form the tutorial. I'd have to check it again.

If you did forget to set those you can enable SpaceMaster and then go tot he racial window and change it there.
