What about the details? I see the number of pins? What is this? Is it important? How can I find the amount of pins in my system?

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

most stores that sell ram have ddr  and ddr2, rarely do I find a store with ddr3. Even best buy does not keep it in stock. I know at least 3 walmarts that have ddr and ddr2 for desktops and laptops in stock as well.
DDR3 is hard to get outside of online ordering due to the demand.

Pin count is determined by the type of memory. each type of memory desktop(DDR/DDR2/DDR3)/laptop(DDR/DDR2/DDR3) has a specific pin count.

Desktop:
DDR = 184
DDR2 = 240
DDR3 = 240

LapTop:
DDR = 200
DDR2 = 200
DDR3 = 204

Ok, so thats something I needn't worry about. Are there any other categories that I should worry about?

Also, I dunno if TigerDirect Ships to The UK. Do they? And If not is there a supplier in the UK / Ships here?

Do not buy ECC ram, its pretty much only for servers. Normal ram either wont mention it, or will be called non-ECC ram.

I don't know who delivers in the UK, sorry. But my preferred online shopping site for computers is newegg.com, slightly more expensive than tiger direct, but customer service, delivery speed and reliability is top notch. Like i said, no idea if they deliver in UK or not.

edit: and one more thing... Not all computers support all configurations of ram. Your best bet is to determine your motherboard manufacturer and model number and look on their website for tested compatible RAM. Anything on that list WILL work. You can also check the limitations of your ram, for instance maximum size (most computers support up to 2 gigs per stick, some less or more) and speed (the Mhz, not DDR multiplier). Anything that matches less or equal to those limits (and matches the type of course) SHOULD work. FREQUENTLY you can use a higher Mhz stick and it will work at the max speed the motherboard allows, I would only try this is you have a hard time finding the previous options.

I should have 2 1 GB DDR ram sticks in the mail from Uk's Misco.co.uk ( http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=279386 ) Is there anything I need to do other than plug them in?

Probably not. plug them in, make sure those little levers on the side are in the notch, turn on your computer and verify that they work.

uhh.... DDR

Just... DDR

Not DDR2 or DDR3, DDR!!!!

I just got two gigs of DDR from my local computer store a couple days ago.  I was under the impression it was still relatively easy to find.  :-\

And how is it that I do that?

Assuming you are running windows xp or later?
A: your computer boots up.
B: right click my computer and select properties from the menu. Somewhere on that screen it tells you how much memory you have installed.

It is. There's still an installed base of approximately a shit-ton of DDR motherboards out there. It's a little harder to find low-capacity DDR, but who'd want that anyway?

DDR2's easy to find, too. The big issue is mostly that DDR3 sales are high enough that memory manufacturers are playing games with supply.
