This thread title could have everything Issac Asimov ever wrote and still be accurate.

My god, that may have been the best short story I've ever read.

One of my favorite short stories is Norman Spinrad's "The Equalizer". It's only nominally sci-fish, too. If you can find it I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Quite a stirring read. One of my favorites. But I hesitate to say that -everything- Asimov wrote was so good... "The Robots of Dawn" really kinda irked me on a number of levels. But aside from that, everything of his I've read is between pretty and totally stupendous.

EDIT: Every time you read it, it jars you.

Place it in context with his other work, though, and what he was driving at becomes a little clearer. So I think, anyway. It's certainly not his strongest work, but even at his worst he's pretty goddam good. :)

One of my favorite sci-fi short stories has to be Exhalation by Ted Chiang.

Anybody else got some good short stories?
