Cavell has just been promoted to lead his own squad, a responsibility he doesn't really enjoy, having been a grunt like the rest for months in the very same squad. He doesn't believe the men respect his authority or would follow his orders in a tough firefight, even though they actually like him.

Officer (PC) Name: Marcus Rodgers.
Background: Marcus heads one of the few (few being relative) of the rough riders that occupy Patria Major. Because of the lack of actual horses on Patria, the squad elected to use motorcycles (do the IG have Attack Bike squads?) instead. it's rumored that Mark's personal bike was taken from a Ork Biker Nob, the head of whom is mounted on the front.

Guard don't have bikes but I'll PM you with a brainwave I had.

Due to a friendly fire incident, his squad was wiped out during battle with the xenos dubbed 'Orks'. Lt Nachillag somehow manged to return to the command center, days after he'd been assumed dead. In his report [if you would like a copy, Inquisitor, you need only ask] he claimed to have been wounded while attempting to get to the rendezvous point of another squad, and had missed the extraction by a few hours.

His report doesn't go into much detail about how he manged to get back to the field headquaters, however, his superiors pressed him over this matter, and I quote:

'Look, it was a bloody long walk, mostly through either trees, swamps, and rivers. The only real excitement was when I caught sight of a dropship which confirmed that I was headed in the right direction. Nothing else happend, except stumbling upon a lone Ork and gutting it, which I mentioned in my report.'

He's only been a fully-fledged guardsman for ten years, after leaving the youth corps at the age of 18, but already has gained a significant rank. You may want to keep an eye on him, not that I'd presume to offer advice to an Inquisitor.


His current assignment is mostly to keep him out of the way of higher ups, who have grown tired of his 'ideas', most which have led to tactics that don't match his orders, but with less casualties than were predicted for those orders. Again, a trait to watch out for.

Having only recently completed his training, Augustus is relatively inexperienced in battle, having only fought in three campaigns. During his service, however, he has already saved a number of machine spirits.

Currently tending to the war machines at Patria Majors' main armory, Augustus has shown commitment to his duty, and a great respect and love for the holy machines he works with. I've talked to him a couple of times, and, although he seems distant from the soldiery, and even other Enginseers, I believe that he may one day soon travel to Mars for more advanced training.
