On a related note, how long does it usually take for traders, in this case elves, to go crazy? The pointy eared bastards only brought rope reed cloth....12 bins of the stuff, I will not stand for it. I currently have them trapped and have moved my barracks next to them. Now the waiting game begins.

I know when you said 'beard' you were probably referring to the hair growing on the dwarf's face, but... AGH... MY EYES...!

See, this is why I built my trading depot out of Bauxite, next to my magma world-flooding doomsday device. The only thing keeping the magma from diverting into my trade depot is a floodgate. Wall 'em in (using wooden walls of course) and kabwoosh. :D

I scare all the traders by conducting trade in a massive, 13-level room. The trade depot is in the middle of that structure there.

Not to mention the massive bridge that they cross to reach my depot...

I like to think that my trader's Intimidator skill scales proportionally to the size of my mega-constructions.

... On second thoughts, too easy. :P

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then you kill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.

A gigantic microcline and orthoclase bridge.

The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Carve logs into totems amd display the tree carcass for all elfendom to see.

When you do that it disappears as far as the elves are concerned unless you offer it to them. They don't care how many trees you cut or how many wood products you have, just the number of cut and unused logs on the map.

Actually I'm pretty sure they only count the logs which are in wood stockpiles.

100 logs in stockpile is the current most popular idea based on observed elf interactions.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.
