This is a masterfully crafted fortress. It is encircled with bands of AWESOME and menaces with spikes of OWNAGE.

Wow. This is just amazing. I never thought that anyone could stick with one fort for so long. Your dedication is inspiring.

Hey, you're from Tucson? Me too! It's cool to think that there is such an awesome DF fan is within 25 miles of me. You go to the U of A?

The amount of AZ dwarfers is just creepy.

Raised in Prescott, going to NAU right now.

Seriously what. How are there so many Tucson/Arizona DF players.
I'm one too. I knew of at least three others, but I don't know if they've changed names or if they're you guys or what. :P

I uploaded a Flarechannel save onto DFFD, from year 500.
http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=1749

As I mention there, this save is a bit old but I thought it was worth it since a couple bugs are currently active in this save, including the strange mystery of the Catten and Eagle relationship, which the save is centered on.

I just read the story of the eagle as well.Very nice you should write more.

I've been planning on doing a narrative fort when the new version comes out, though I'll want to finish up with Flarechannel first and maybe take a break. Give Toady a chance to work through whatever initial bugs there are.

Okay cool.

EDIT:I downloaded it and It was HUGE!It only ran at 4 FPS which is the slowest I've ever seen in DF and you have like 2 pages of giant eagles and I tried to view it in visual fortress but I waited 10 minutes and it didn't load.I like the floor with magma on the out side and water on the inside and it took forever for the dwarves to move or do anything.

Ha ha, now you can see why I can get away with just leaving it running in the background all the time, with only occasional commands. Also why it takes 3 months for 50 years to pass by.

Also, I don't know why Visual Fortress is giving you trouble, mine pops up pretty quickly. If you are lacking free memory, there just might not be enough available. Maybe going to the 'esc' menu and letting it calm down for a little bit before loading VF would help.

Memory, not storage space. One's the RAM and the other one's the HDD.

I don't know about you; I generally don't store games in RAM.

Having 4 gigs of space left makes perfect sense then.

RAM would have a much bigger impact on running speed.

Furthermore we don't know how much space you started with.

But I don't want it to try butting heads with me. :(

Augh D:

I've got a fort that I'm having difficulty bringing myself to continue - I've spent a fair number of hours over three months working on it, but the framerate is around 0-5 generally, unless I leave all my dwarves idle. Right now I'm busy with school plus a community fort narrative, but I want to get back to it eventually. Any suggestions on how to keep the drive going? I'm feeling a bit burnt out, but I have a lot of ideas as-of-yet not brought to existence - but I know as soon as I open it up I'll be faced with dissuading uberslowness again.
