Your philosophy is screwed.

However, your point is valid.

... I'm sad because there's not enough to occupy me with the RP down, and I just know I'm going to start over-posting again.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Don't tempt me - I'm impressionable enough that I'd do it. Innocently.
But I'd be new at it, so I'd probably practice on a friend first.

Thinking about death made me sad. I'm going to go read books now.

Actually, good in many philosophies can be defined as what is beneficial to the group. In other philosophies it can be defined as what is beneficial to ones self. Since murder carries terrible, terrible consequences that affect both adversely, we can conclude that murder is evil.

When you feel sad a good thing to do is sit in a comfortable chair in your underwear with a heater on full blast and think about your life for a while.
I'm completely serious.

But what if you live in Australia, and it's summer?

All your saying is subjective. It would be good for the group, or the community! You were arguing that there are deep ingrained good and evils in the universe, but how does something with no perspective consider something good?

No, not really. Good can mean a number of things that have concrete meaning, as can evil.

Philosophy is a load of pretentious bollocks. It depresses me that people devote their lives to it.

...That is a great opening to sink in deep thought. Just philosophising about why people woul- Oops.

And 'pretentious bollocks' is a humorous mental image. I imagine top hats and monocles.

Philosophy is a bit like going to the gym for your mind - it doesn't achieve anything in itself, but allows your mind to judge more impartially and rationally. I will agree however that all of the problems in Philosophy are unsolvable, which is why people have been arguing over some of them for over ~2000 years.  ;D
