Yes, it's quite bad. My farm was known as Ash Tree farm at one point, and it's not hard to see why.

It has, thankfully, not made it this far. Yet.

Back around the Rocky Mountains there is an issue with beetle infestations killing the pine forests. There's not much we can do, we can try cutting down the trees but they can jump around really fast to new ones. Biggest solution is wildfires however the dead trees can be considered a wildfire hazard as well. Lots of companies have propped up to convert the beetle kill wood for alot of uses including furniture and biofuel but for now the mitigation work continues.

Just heard one of my favourite actors, Michael Nyquist, just died from cancer at 56.

He didn't get to do much work abroad but he got a few roles in the last decade. Most of you probably know him best as the father mob guy in John Wick.

Don't do that. More things have a way of showing up.

What if those things are meaningless too? /nihilism ftw

... no. If you don't have something that gives your life meaning, add something to it that gives it meaning. Take up a hobby, whatever you want, or even several of them - learn an instrument, start writing or drawing or learn to code, find some physical thing to build, etc. Get more involved in various relationships in your life, and if you don't have any or if you don't have any good ones, go and meet new people that you might enjoy being around. If you're religious, get involved with your church. And even if none of this works, at least you tried! Also, you're not worthless. Your ideas and talents are something that are unique to you and you have value. Just don't give up.

Argumentum ad Momentum 22
Not really :O
In cases with depression [or using depression as a cover term for specific situations that warrant such (ie social persecution or fear of such)], it's as if it's reasonable to look a lot less at oneself and one's capabilities, their self-worth, self-concept, self-esteem, and a myriad # of other factors solely based on the context of the thoughts that come to the person consistently and their environment, to say most generally. What is real in a person's mind is what affects them most--and there are times that the mental voice repeats a demeaning statement and it feels all the more real because it's trying to interact with the most recent (or at least perceived) happening. Anxiety and fears that way are futuristic and don't belong in the present...because it's not describing what is happening but what is seen to happen.

Otherwise, a term for those are 'blockers'; ideas that do not give progress and stifle action. Those do not and cannot define people because you can't define a person by what's perceived as their limitations, but by their possibilities, and often these in life aren't hard-bound. The corepoint of not giving up is experience and exposure; the counterpoint is giving up and settling with just what you knew, and this is a very blunt note on point.

Keep going scriver c: You inspire me; many people do (and many don't know it).

Tiruin, you just put words to something that has bothered me my whole life. My just-can'ts. I just can't deal with heights. Confrontation. Approaching people.

I want to thank you. Sincerely, just thank you.

When the police have to deal with riots, they should throw Tir gas.

Heck no, I remember him from the Millennium series. He was my favourite thing about those films!
This is sad news indeed. :( As for your next post... I'm going to send you a PM. Might take a while, as I am currently huddled under a bunch o' blankets typing with excruciating slowness on my phone (gosh I should really download swype on this thing), but I hope you read it.

my advice is to keep going in the direction you chose before it got dark. Afterwards you'll make sense of stuff.
