Well it's clear and is a spirit so yeah heh. Between 37.5 and 50% ABV, according to a quick Wikipedia scan...

I do believe that licorice stuff is Ouzo. It is wonderful, though not vodka.

There's also Sambuca. :)

Ouzo is not black liquorice flavoured though, it's anise.

The only black liquorice drink I know is a Dutch brand of strong liquor (which is insanely popular): Dropshot. "Drop" is the Dutch word for Dutch black liquorice.

It's not "liquorice flavoured", sure, but it tastes like liquorice.

I believe both are sweet due to  the same component, glycyrrhizinic acid.  Closely related too.

There's a similar Basque drink, patxaran, but I've never seen the appeal. I dislike sweetened liquor.

IIRC many black liquorices are flavoured with anise oil, though, so it's a little bit six of one.

My Systems Analysis lecturer is apparently an idiot who's unwilling to accept that she may have done something wrong. When that something wrong is fucking up an assignment, it's not time to claim you were somehow right all along, it's time to accept that you made a mistake and ensure it's clearer next time. Right now, I want to hit my head into my desk.

I hope I can avoid this actually ruining my day though, ugh.

Is that a CH X, like in Xavi? I may have to see if Systembolaget has some in or order it.

Unless it is super sweet.

Also, glycyrrhizin sounds like somebody gurgling. Or something burblily  dissolving into acid.

Around here we have Kettenfett, 'Chain Grease'. Dark as the night, with a liquorice flavor that'll knock you out. There's some sal ammoniac in there, too. I'm the only person I know that likes the stuff.

Ch-ish X, yes

TBH I think it's suposed to be home-made. You pick up the berries (because it also uses berries), mix the stuff at home, and let it settle.

I found it too sweet. But I highly dislike sweet spirits anyway.

If I'm drinking spirits I'm kind of partial to Irish whiskey. Not that I have many opportunities anymore, what with my spontaneous monking and all.

Pfft, don't monks make awesome booze anyway? I mean, uh, medicinal tonic...

My Sad: Very broke, and my payment a couple of days from now is already spoken for. I have 60 dollars that are free to spend, and I was supposed to be partying with an old friend for the remainder of the weekend. Oh gosh. Kind of a bad time for it, since I was already pretty broke what with moving and all, and then the much-anticipated gig last night took the rest of my money. Argh.
I might have to see about getting a loan. :-\

O boy. So i figured i'd browse Youtube for Oni's soundtrack, and found the final boss music. I fucking love this track in so many ways, and it brings back nice (and sort of angry) memories from 16 years ago, but it also makes me miss those times even though school was a goddamn nightmare. It also makes me realize that i'm more comfortable reminiscing about the past than i am at trying to actually live my life and make it better. That's kinda scary. I'm a creature of comfort, and i tend to get stuck in "comfortable". When i eventually die, i fear that i'll be full of regret caused by missed opportunities and all the things i didn't do that i could have done and wanted to do, but were too comfortable in inaction to actually do. What i do right now can hardly be called living, it's more existing and passing time. Hard to do more than that when i don't even know myself properly.

@Yoink:Can we send you money then?

I think a simpler solution is stop partying
