Apparently a bunch of people think I'm burning out. I feel exhausted and i've been having shitloads of nonsensical nightmares, but there's only two or three weeks left before uni's over for the year.

I'm stuck in a rut. Can't seem to get anywhere or do anything that feels like I'm moving forward. I'm in the same place that I was last year, which is pretty similar to the year before, and the same as the year before that. A handful of inconsequential things have gotten better by a small amount, but not much has changed in either direction.

Aw crap, now I'm hitting the less pleasant part of my usual fiction-induced reverie- the part where I start feeling sad about how boring and pointless my life will always be compared to said work of fiction. :(
It's still a nicer feeling than my usual apathy, I suppose. Just need to keep thinking about the good bits without comparing them to real life.

Australian government data collection laws :/

Basically the best reason ever to off-shore all your digital services if you're in Australia. If you use domestic email services, then the ISP is required to record all your received and set emails.

Apparently not. The state police here are actually pushing for even more powers than the new laws already give them, they want every single website anyone accesses permanently recorded. Which in this day and age is basically like saying they're pushing to monitor your whole life 1984-style.

Ha ha ha... I'm sure the things I usually browse on the internet will give them cause for much consternation.
If they want to waste their dickishness budget investigating me, they should go for it- hopefully that will distract them from catching someone who actually plans on fucking with their shit long enough for their shit to get fucked.

Reminds me of an opinion piece I saw a while back where someone wanted the NZSIS (semi-independent intelligence service) given more power so it could protect the general public from the GCSB (cabinet-controlled intelligence service, generally doesn't give a sod about laws).
