Ach, i know i ramble a lot about study woes in here, but bear with me yet another time.

Recently, i've found that my doubt and sadness is turning into bitterness and frustration about all the bullshit that university students are being put through at the moment, and to top it all off, Comrade Government wants to impose further savings/budget slashes on them. Do they have their fucking heads in a glass bubble up in the sky, or something? I know that savings are needed sometimes, but this is just ridiculous, with their logic being that "since we're already imposing this on everything else we might as well also slash the funding to the future of the country so we can lower the tax by like 1%" or something like that, and they're trying to mask it with terms such as "improving efficiency", as if the employees of the various universities are terrible at managing the funding. I'm sure that, despite how much most people think that school is an unholy bore, many people would also agree that education is one of the worst things you could choose to impose savings on. These are the people who are going to take care of your wrinkly butts when you get old, politicians, so how about you DON'T make their lives any harder than it already is?

I know, i know, we're a spoiled lot here in Denmark, what with us getting monetary support during our higher education (which, by the way, they've also reduced; quite a lot if you don't live on your own). That is by no means an excuse to worsen the quality of education by means of stretching budgets thin. Is it only the students worrying about this? Nope! Professors are too, and have written more than one article about A: how the first reform is counter-productive, and B: how the coming savings are going to have consequences. It utterly baffles me how blind the People in Power(tm) are to all that.

I'm tired of studying already, and now i'm also up to my dick in bile and frustration about all this bullshit. I am THIS close to dropping out at the mment (out of a lack of interest, mind you), and all this might well end up pushing me over the edge, because there are limits as to how much shit i'm willing to deal with. I'm already considering alternatives, since the politicians seem to be too concerned with numbers to actually know what they're doing.

So yeah, almost constantly feeling bitter and frustrated about that, and it takes awfully little to set me off on a rant about it. Doesn't seem like that would be healthy in the long term.

Yeah, I hear you. Education is bafflingly high up on everybody's shit list in government for some reason. I think it's part of the just-world idea - they figure the really deserving students will study extra hard and be just as smart and the market will reward them, and everybody else doesn't deserve financial aid. Likewise, the really deserving workers will sign up for unpaid overtime, live with their extended in an illegally-overcrowded apartment, and...

Try to go to sleep at a decent hour (between 8 and 9, in this case). Body decides that's a signal to wake up <3 hours later, perfectly alert, with a headache, and unable to go back to sleep. Days like this make me wish I was born in an era to access to another couple of centuries worth of medical research, so I could get up, take human biology back behind the shed, and put it down like the sick dog it is. Frustrating to the point of tears.

I hate myself. I take things way too seriously and decided that it would be a good idea to base my entire self onto my test results. I get the test back. 5/10, not really that bad but I fucking freak out and get in shit for it and start crying and I fucking hate myself. Why am I so fucking useless? Everyone at school has found out as well and seems to think it's incredibly funny and they all love to make fun of me for it especially since it isn't the first time I've done something like this. I hate myself.

Ah, now that I've gotten my composure back from my adverse work day, it's time for a nice relaxing night of sleeplessness and endlessly questioning whether my feelings are valid, followed by shitty rationalizing supporting whichever stance my mind feels like taking this time. I sure do enjoy having feelings that I have to rebuke myself for having.

I just entered an essay writing contest for school. I'm not at all content with my text. Even the resinable amount of tree puns I managed to crowbar in don't stop it from being a real pine in the asp, beleaf me.

This is probably because I haven't slept well for several weeks, or at all for the last two nights. I'm sad and tired.

The Stray Cat (tame) has been missing for a week.

I feel for you, caz. Don't give up hope yet though, sometimes cat can disappear for a long time. When I was a child, our cat disappeared over the summer and I was heartbroken (I remember bicycling around the countryside, calling out her name and trying to hide that I was crying), but after two months or something she returned by herself. She just sat in the kitchen window one day.

Is it an actual stray cat, or was that just because of the reference?
