Found out today that my mother and grandfather completely relinquished citizenship to their home country making it impossible for me to get a passport for there.
How dare they make things slightly less convenient for me!

Also thanks Tiru. It's all about the attitude really, and I think my thoughts manifest in ways I don't really want them to.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Uhm. It seems that both coworkers and (well known) patients agree that I look like my nerves are pretty frayed... I suspect I look pretty weathered these last few days...

Do I want to know why exactly you're digging a hole deep enough to be a grave in the middle of the night?
Maybe. The answer is "because it is one". A kitten died.
Times like this remind me why my mum is overworked. When someone can get shit done and navigate emotional people demand is high. :(

This is one of the things that has such a pileup of horrible it's starting to seep through into black comedy. It seems like the entire universe conspiring against the poor thing.

MY COMPOOPER WENT BANG
Well, not quite. It fell on the floor and now it doesn't boot up. Says nothing to boot. I think the Hard drive is aborkadork. Also, I may have done something dumb: Hard Resetted while it was 'looking for information about the error'. Of course, it wasn't DOING anything. So now I'm borrowing my Grandmother's shitty laptop. I'm gonna need to get my old one fixed, and there's a damn fine chance that I'm gonna lose all my data. Today started so WELL. :c

tl;dr koss is a knob, will not be on nearly as much for a while due to laptop pooping out

Check if it's just a loose cable before you do anything rash.

I wouldn't call 'sending it in to get fixed' rash. I've got connections to people who are proficient with computerwanks. Hopefully.

It's fine! That's kind of really funny. You see, it's a Doctor Who thing. You probably haven't watched the show.

But, he's basically dying and regenerates into somebody else.

One of the very few close friends I have who actually knows I'm transgender and only like men had a not so lovely conversation with me last night. He brought up the Bruce Jenner interview for some reason (I actually haven't seen it as of now, yet, because I knew long ago). There's a reason Family Guy made this joke a while ago in 2009....

Anyhow, this person was just ... he asked if I wanted to be a "Shemale," which I informed him is a term from the porn industry, so no....

I just bit my tongue the whole time. I'm not even going to try it anymore. I don't care.

The primary thing I asked was that they continue not to tell. That's all I really wanted before and beyond all other aspects of things. They agreed to keep that secret and that's ... all I really can ask for. [sigh].

The amount of misinformation or downright insulting behaviors passed down by media on trans issues is... yeah. I'm sorry that you had to deal with that from a friend.

At least from this end it sounds like an honest mistake, don't get too down about it.

To be fair, gender identity nonsense is a pretty new thing. It's unreasonable to expect everyone to (a) know anything about it, or (b) not think that everyone involved is absolutely barking.

Which is a pretty sad thing, to be fair.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
