If Objective was serious, then I am exceedingly disappointed in him.

I think this thread is at times sort of like the life advice section, and in that way, I'd like people to try to be genuinely helpful if they can.  I've removed a few remarks above which clearly weren't running along those lines.

I feel like Toady's been down in the lower boards a lot the past month or so. We should probably do a better job of policing ourselves.

Not a real Pokemon.

This was one of the first results when I image searched it though:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I stopped playing around Black & White 1, I believe. Never bothered getting a 3DS.

O o O ~GASP~

You're not missing much, in my opinion. The 3D is fancy and some of the tracks from gen 6 are the sound of WIN, but the story is kinda cheesy and they only introduced like 60-something Pokémon* and they're already on remaking Gen III now. The pixels are more charismatic in my opinion anyway.

*Admittedly, they did add the 666th Pokémon, which is funny because it's a butterfly.

Eh, whatever IG said is probably not far from the truth. I always inevitably disappoint people when they see my true colours.

Your true colors aren't intrinsic to you. 3 years ago I had a superiority complex the size of the city I live in and I romanticized infatuation like a 16-year-old boy ought to. Now I don't, because I grew up. Any illusions that I am smart went away somewhat 2 years ago, were mostly gone by a few months ago and were completely dashed by hearing someone who's actually smart talking under pressure (a girl named Sue or Soo or something pronounced like that, who you can hear in the Radiolab podcast "What's Left When You're Right?") just two days ago. You're going to change over time. It's not a bad thing, even if some good things are lost in the process.

...Kind of? The story is a nonsensical pile of ass. :P
I just like the pokemons. And the soundtrack in that one bit with the bad guys and stuff.

BOO!

I found out who is directing the Jem and the Holograms movie.

There is no hope in hell that this movie will be good now. It is just going to be Hannah Montana the movie 2.

I know no one cares, but honestly Jem and the Holograms was an insane and fun show with a surprising amount of depth if you watch enough of it. With villains who were fun and you could root for.

Bah! Maybe so. I doubt it. But why do you care? I mean, really - why? It's not a rhetorical question - there are plenty of reasons to care what other people think, but I'd like to hear them from you. Because none of the good ones imply you should be cutting yourself.

Besides, Putnam's right. Maybe you're disappointed in you right now, and, hey, that's a perfectly reasonable thing to be sad over. But you aren't always going to be who you are right now. Start making yourself somebody you'd be proud to be, or, failing that, into somebody who can start that process themselves. Or, failing that, somebody who can start that change. Ad nauseam. Even if you're feeling so lost that you don't think you'll ever be good, you can still be better tomorrow than you are today, and that's worth chasing.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

... Uh...

My sad for the day is that submarines are so goshdarn expensive...
And the only ones I can find for sale are this ones with the huge viewports.
I want a cramped one that isn't silly looking, darn it.
At some point. In the distant future. When I'm old and have a beard and can dress like a pirate or something.
And, most importantly, can afford one.*

*Even though I'll probably never be able to.
