For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

It feels like the universe is moving too quickly, I'm aging out of my talents, and when it came to the various rivalries I entertained over the years... I've lost.

Back to work.

So the relationship with my parents can now be explained very easily: "Are you studying? Why aren't you studying? Go study! You should study more!"

Despite the fact that the exams are a month away from now and that I've tried to get in atleast a couple of hours of studying every day and that I know most of the stuff from before. It's never enough for them, it seems that the only way to please them would be to simply glue the damn books to my glasses and spend the entire summer in a vegetative state, absorbing shit I'll possibly never need :I

I think there's something to be said for resting your mind. I know that when I'm pressured into studying more than an hour or two a day, I feel like I've actually still processed just the same amount of information, because eventually your mind just goes blargh.

Exactly that, after a certain point I see no point because it just turns into glossing over the countless pages with my brain on autopilot. So instead of decieving myself and wasting time I stop and do something else. Heck, I know I can pull more but I need a bit to get going, get in the groove so to speak. But nope, it will never be enough, moments ago I was asked again do I actually plan to study, despite the fact I've spent atleast two hours on that today but I guess that if they don't actually see me studying  (which they don't most of the time because my room is small and incredibly hot so unless they're there to use the PC they avoid it) then I'm not studying, add to that that they just love inflating the time I spent gaming and it turns into a fight I just cannot hope to win :I
Oh and I guess now they consider me playing games or music terrorising the entire household for some reason which requires them to lash out if they catch me doing any of it instead of maybe asking me to turn the volume down or put on some headphones or something.

Also incredibly sorry for your loss DarkDXZ, hope you weather this the best you can.

Welp, tomorrow I've got one of my last and most difficult criminal cases. Let's hope he's smart enough to not drag this out/get himself really screwed.

Dear God. You just stay out of this one.... Really, I'm just trying to get out of this racket.

I see nothing. I was not here. I did not even get up this morning!

But eh, I'm immensely glad I won't be doing criminal anymore.

So, there's this game that I've had an account on for years. It has always been around, and I've met a few neat people online because of it. Currently, it has very few players, and quite frankly I'm surprised it's still alive. The admins don't come on any more (they used to play with the players, have fun events, that kind of thing) and the only updates to the game are weekly additions of new equipment that I'm pretty sure have been queued up automatically anyways (the game has been released in other countries that are further ahead in their updates, and we get stuff a bit behind them). But the game is still around, and has been for a decent amount of time.

However, despite having only about 10-20 or so active players, a certain user has decided to post a bunch of crap on the forums regularly about how terrible the game is, and then repeatedly edit the game's wiki, replacing words in the title with pornographic ones, and adding tons of links to pornographic websites. I'm pretty sure they are another player of the game, looking at their profile and stuff, but I just don't get why somebody would be a jerk like that. It's obnoxious as heck. Unfortunately I doubt that anything will be done, the admins haven't been seen for ages, and the Contact Us form is broken, too. I did send an email to their impossible-to-find email address I had saved in my e-mail, though, so maybe that will go somewhere.

I visited my closest friend this weekend, and over half the total time I was there was spent trying to calm her down from a series of panic attacks. I really, really wish I could help. But I got nothin'. I can't seem to empathy anymore. And all the while, the person I care about most is breaking down.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Heh. A NwN2 persistent world server I play at has the same problem. Arguably, it's pretty large for a NwN2 server, but still tiny compared to other, newer, games. And there's still some guy who has become obsessed with this server and repeatedly/periodically launches ddos attacks at it. He's been doing this for years, apparently.

Some people are just sad.

That's the thing with the internet, and society itself to a lesser extent.

You just need -one- person with a bug up their arse and time to kill to ruin it for everyone else. While you usually need more than one person to actually make something.

I am sad because my computer has no audio. I can't hear mah games, or mah musics. Says it can't recognize the damn audio device. I'll have to work on that...

Also, I can't watch youtube videos. It might be related to the lack of audio, I suppose.
