By "first toe", do you mean the big toe?

...Yes.
But the point is that for some people the second toe is longer, so calling it a 'big' toe may be confusing when taking the conversation into account.

I always called it the big toe because it was the widest and thickest toe

I don't claim to have Morton's Toe, mostly because I've never heard of it before today. But an impromptu examination of my feet seems to show that one of my second toes is longer than the first toe.

Same here. Well, actually only my left index finger is longer. o.O The right one appears to be the same length, whether through some trickery of angles and how I hold my hands, or actually being that way, I know not.

Use a ruler and measure from the bottom fold line, otherwise it is too subject to how you hold your hands.

So doing some reading and apparently digit ratio is sexually dimorphic and as a guy I'm not meant to have the ratio I have.
