Apparently my sister-in-law's father died sometime today :/  Didn't know the guy very well, only met him once.  I heard he was always very sickly and wasn't expected to live a full life.  I suspect most of the family was able to show up to see him.  I want to text my brother and ask if they're ok.  But I don't know what to say.  Saying "sorry for your loss" or something like that probably won't help at all.
You feel a sense of loss and have sympathy toward them, right? Tell them exactly that. Honest condolences are the best condolences to give.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

That's like the belief that dividing by zero would destroy reality. It's silly. It would just murderficate the shit out of whatever calculator did the dividing.

We divide by zero all the time. And a computer would just be stuck in an infinite loop of operations.

Or it would, if modern calculators didn't simply give an error message.

x/0=N/A
0/x=0
x/x=1
Therefore
0/0=?

x/0=N/A
0/x=x
x/x=1
Therefore
0/0=?

Obviously its
0/0=N/x

According to my calculator, 0/x = 0.

Ah but you can divide 0 by 0.

0 / 0 = 0
0 x 0 = 0

That's all well and good.

However say we get any other number, for example 1;

1 x 0 = 0
0 / 0 = 0

And you borked it already

The world has made me sad today. Seems like everything is fucked up, and it's not going to get better.

It would probably be easier if I didn't feel some sort of twisted responsibility to make the world better. It would all be so much easier if I could make everyone think the way I do.

Except that would be boring. And also would probably cause me to be attacked by British secret agents.

I wish the world thought they way I do. Wait, no I don't. I wish they would think they way I WANT them too. Allowing me to rule as I should.
