Harvard is pretty much the only Ivy League school that acts that way anymore, what with the whole poverty discrimination thing. They will never offer to cover more than 50% of tuition. On the other hand, Yale covers all students with a family income of 60k and under, MIT covers 70k and under, and Brown covers 50k and under. With MIT, if you're under 45k like me they'll pay for room, board, tuition, books, lab fees, and find you an on-campus part-time job.

Sweet deal.

I can't believe it. I finally get Camstudio to record both my speakers and microphone at once, but now my microphone is so very quiet.

It's possible that you're just accidentally using the 'talk loudly into speakers and that will work' thing. Speakers and microphones, after all, are constructed the same way. The only difference is that one takes input and the other gives an output.

I have no idea what the 'talk loudly into speakers and that will work' thing is.

I've not slept well today as it was too hot, the dog was barking, the house was busy, and somehow my earplugs kept falling out. What sleep I got was full of weird dreams and now I've got to go to work. I am not happy.

I have no idea what the 'talk loudly into speakers and that will work' thing is.
Speakers and microphones are mechanically alike. If you speak loudly into a speaker plugged into an input it can work as a poor microphone. There's a chance this is what you're encountering.

So if, say, my mike's broken... I can use my headphones instead, and vice-versa?

Technically but the quality will be poor because each is optimised to do it's job. For example: The heavy weight in the centre of a speaker will be harder to move with your voice than that in a microphone. It's a bit like how you can use a motor as a dynamo.

Edit: I'd imagine someone else can give a better explanation.

Actually, you hit it pretty much spot on. A lot of the electrical stuff we have is something else but with the polarities switched, doctor who style.

You're going to a college to do research - just like I would be doing at, say, MIT. A research college. I, too, would be experimenting for SCIENCE. I still have to be good enough. If I am accepted, it is free. Considering that I can't even afford community college very well on my own, this is likely one of my only shots at getting a 4-year degree. Thank you for calling me a charity case meant only to make a college look good. Much appreciated.

Sorry man just i had problems with ivy leagues ever since i was born, i had the damn tiger mom and dad that push me very hard every damn day. I realized that they can't pay for my education but they can't force me to do well and expect me to meet with every college rep with some smile on my face and some compliment off my tongue. I even forcefully failed myself for 5 years straight to get those assholes off my case (course i forgotten my exam scores which they kept them coming back as i actually do them). If you're doing it for a education and you want it then thats fine bro im sorry if i make it sound like you're a chump i had no intention for it.

It could be your BEST shot at a 4/6/8 year degree. But there is always the option of a state college and the horrific burden of tens of thousands of dollars in student loans... Go to MIT or whatever school will have you for free if you can. Trust me, it sucks to have 40 thousand dollars in debt while you try to find a job.

If you get into that I would shoot for the sky if I were you. Go for a masters or PHD, but try to arrange it so that you also get the lesser degrees along the way.

Wait, was that Doctor Who or Star Trek? Star Trek was very fond of reversing the polarity of the phase inverters. That could apparently make you into a ghost without killing you, or in Voyager could send a shuttlecraft faster than Warp 10, which obviously caused you to evolve backwards into a giant salamander.

Have I mentioned that Voyager was a horrible, horrible show?

Goddammit, that is what happened. Well, that's one problem solved, but now I'm back to square one since Camstudio hasn't really been recording both my microphone and speakers.
